This was my first real attempt at macro photography. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity than Santa Rosa Island. The place was crawling, no pun intended, with nudis. Before yesterday the only nudis I've seen were spanish shawls. Does anyone know what the second pic is? Or maybe what kind of snail is in the 4th pic?

Thanks to Neil for inviting me on this trip, it was definitely needed.

Billy

Awesome pictures, Bro!

Looks like you guys had a great time.

The second pic looks like a Tinycrabis Butticus

Good work Billy!!

I was on that trip as well, and I, like Billy, had never seen any nudis other than Spanish Shawls before. Until this trip! I lost count of how many different species we saw. They were everywhere! It was a nudi extravaganza. I have to say it was fantastic to finally see them in real life, after seeing so many pictures of them in here.

Billy, that Hermissenda chase scene -- is that the one on the last dive, when I was there? I'm pretty sure I watched that scene play out. It was amazing! If that's the same scene, that was at Santa Cruz.

It was a great trip all around. We were supposed to be at San Miguel, but I guess the wind was too strong so we ended up at Santa Rosa. I still would like to get to San Miguel one of these days, but I certainly had no complaints about this trip! The Peace is just a great boat, and we had a great crowd.

Amazing pictures! Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi Billy,

Great shots the Blue Rockfish looked small, were they or were they far away. Are you going to be at the next Wrinkles dive?

John

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty stoked on these.

LeeAnne, it was great to finally meet you and get down to some serious smack talking. The chase scene was from our 2nd dive of the day. Just to the left of these two were a Diaululanobilis and a Spanish Shaw. This was about 30ft from the anchor. Do you know any of the dive spot names? I think the first one was rainbow something.

John, the rockfish was pretty far away, that's why there is so much backscatter. I think I'm either going to be in Utah, Colorado or New Mexico during the next wrinkles event, too many pending jobs.

The vis was just OKAY on most of these dives but there was so much to look at. Check out the Octo Video by clicking on the link at the top of the 2nd post. Being a video guy I'm surprised at how well this PoS P&S does video.
