Hi All,

I've booked a flight to Cebu in early October. I've been trying to do some research but there are simply too many great diving spots near Cebu!

So far, I've looked at and considered:

- 1 or 2 days in Mactan, followed by 5 days in Bohol (Near Alona beach)
- All 7 days in Alona

Would those options be recommended? I've also seen many people recommending Southern Leyte, but from the map, it looks like it's too far for a 7 day trip.

I've also just bought an old Canon G10 with an underwater casing and will be trying out underwater photography for the first time this trip (other than my gopro which I've been using).

Getting to Southern Leyte should only take a couple of hours than going to Alona. There is a direct fast ferry to a port town in Southern Leyte , from there there are buses to Sogod , or of course you can get a taxi. The diving is way better in Leyte and in October you may see whalesharks , it’s a little early buy you might be lucky. Bohol is also very nice.

Good luck with the photography, you have a fair number of dives done which is really good.

Best fishes x

I just booked 5 days in Alona, specifically 4 days diving in Balicasag. Then 6 days diving in Cabilao. So maybe 3/4 Cabilao/Alona? Only a 2hr ferry between the 2, and seems like you might be able to just hire a boat to make the trip

There is a 3 hour fast ferry from Cebu to Massin (S Leyte) at 6 am. I was diving in the afternoon at Peter's Resort. Bohol, Alona beach, is busy, more crowded.
I would not bother with Mactan.
Or spend a week in Malapascua, 5 days diving . Thresher shark dives every morning.

Southern Leyte or Malapascua.
My personal preference:Southern Leyte.
Ferry from Cebu City to Ormoc and then public(bus or shared van) or private transfer if you have missed the early ferry to Maasin.

Alona Beach? 15 yrs too late.

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind and quick replies! I definitely want to go to malapascua again one day, but I did my OW and AOW courses there so I'd like to see somewhere else.

I'm convinced, will do research on Southern Leyte and Sogod bay. Thanks guys! Any recommendations for that area are of course more than welcome too!

There aren't that many operators/resorts to choose(Sogod Bay) and Peter's has been around for ages. SBSR is stone throw away.

Hi sorry, but what's SBSR?
