I don't know what a 7/8 valve is worth.
But I am guessing its min 50$ US,
By the time I pay shipping duties and taxes its probably 100$ plus 30% exchange,

30 mins of work and can save it .
I'll do it,
plus I don't have to pay income tax
And I have it right away.
And I am always up for a challenge.

I've seen them go on sale for less, but currently I think they're $75 / valve.

I hate throwing things away that I can save, plus I like learning new things and also enjoy a challange.
 
Yeah I have a few other old valves.
And I want to modify them and drill and tap them probably for 1/8 or 1/4 npt for my compressor bank and other HP whips and stuff.. nice easy turning hp valve.

I don't cut them down because there is anything wrong with them, I just hate 300 bar valves.
It takes 7 hours to thread a fill whip into a 300 bar valve and 5 seconds for a 200 bar.
I can't explain why the extra 2.5 threads take 6 hours and 55 seconds, but it does.

I am intimately familiar with massaging them back into shape because at least every other charter, somebody doesn't remember to strap their gear down and a tank hits the deck. I don't have spare valves on the boat and it wouldn't matter either way since the compressor is in the van. I do what I can to make it work for them.
 
Learning the hard way.

Do the plugs for good tanks have to be metal, or does Delrin work? Maybe a dense 3D printed plug? (Like ~ 100% infill)?

I'm saying good tanks as obvioulsy the bent valves need the stainless plug, but would the delrin / 3D hold the good valves in shape?
never use plastic plugs, if the valve gets cracked there is a very good chance for the plug to explode like a plastic grenade. SS or brass is what you want
 
I've had plastic plugs get broken off inside the valve. It is an absolute PITA to get them back out.

100% facts. I don't know why that time is so irritating, I guess because I know there's a more efficient way. I try to stick to diving my LP 85's for this very reason.

No. No, you don't. Tools are their own justification. It's better if they have no idea what they're used for. The more tools you have, the easier it is to hide your new tools among your classics. I've been collecting Scuba gear and tools since 1969. I have them everywhere. I even have tools for my tools.
