The 3 mm suit will be more than enough. I dove a 3 mm shorty in October last season. Temps in the mid to upper 70s are the norm. A 5 mm above the surface will have you overheated before the dive as well.
 
What they said, I don't go beyond 3mm till November, even then, water could have been handled with 3mm and a hooded vest, it's just getting in and out in between.
