Great! Thanks for all the useful feedback and insights guys… 👍🏼

Steel tank is very uncommon in SE Asia.
11L Al(A-clamp) is the most common. Most modern Al tank has an yoke insert so there is no need to convert the DIN to A-clamp. However, better ask ahead first.
DIN to A-clamp adaptor is cheaper but I prefer the proper conversion(expensive).

so it is just a matter of using an Allen key to remove it and can be done when assembling your gear right? I wonder why dive shops always tell in advance when making plans that - “If bringing your own regulator tell us in advance if you use DIN …”

If you have a 1st stage with a DIN connection, the easy way is to use an adapter as shown on the left. The other option is to replace the DIN fitting with an INT fitting, which is shown on the right. These pictures are Apeks specific, but it's similar for other brands.

The really easy way is when dive centers have DIN valves with inserts:

So “If bringing your own regulator tell us in advance if you use DIN …” - gives the diveshop a chance to check all tanks with DIN valves and remove the DIN inserts.

DIN is used all over Europe, pretty standard in the Middle-East, and appearing more and more in Asia. The o-ring is better protected compared to INT.

Ok so there are tanks out there without a removeable insert that take only A-Clamp?
