hmm... maybe you missed the first lines?

'We don't need Les Miles lipping off to know the truth: The Southeastern Conference is better than the Pacific-10 in football.

This year and most years.'

UTMatt, the rest of the article goes on to explain. If you read more than the headline it will explain that their reason for the SEC having better football is due to the passion of the fans. Not the caliber of football, not the "tough" conference. The passion of the fans.

NetDoc:
Those who only experience passion will never be able to comprehend obsession.

Isn't obsessive/compulsive a mental disorder?

...it's the overpowering drive to beat the living snot out of those presumptuous sissy-fied drama queens they call football teams west of the Mississippi and north of the Mason Dixon line. :D :D :D

I guess we have selective reading. Since you didn't catch it the first time, I'll bold the entire sentence.

Ignoring the fact that USC has trampled the last four SEC teams it has faced by a combined total of 119 points is worse."

So on average, USC has beat the last four SEC teams by an average of 29.75 ppg. So remind me where you "beat the living snot" out of the Pac-10

And on a different point, which actually helps make my original point that the SEC is not the king of college football.
Here is the USA today 2007 top 10.

1. USC (45) 0-0 1,481
2. LSU (4) 0-0 1,372
3. Florida (9) 0-0 1,278
4. Texas 0-0 1,231
5. Michigan (2) 0-0 1,218
6. West Virginia 0-0 1,205
7. Wisconsin 0-0 1,114
8. Oklahoma 0-0 1,026
9. Virginia Tech 0-0 1,005
10. Ohio State 0-0 919

Rhetorical question: How did this ranking come about?? According to SEC fans, every coach, sports writer, etc, who voted for the 7 other teams (omitting USC, LSU, FL) does not know what they are talking about. I would like SEC fans to tell these coaches and writers they are idiots for voting for Texas as 4 or Michigan as 5. After all, what kind of sissyfied football do they play in Texas? And the Big-10, who does Michigan think they are with their presumptuous 11 national championships? This list indicates the truth and that truth is that there may be better teams out there than the remaining 10 SEC teams or the remaining 9 Pac 10 teams. HENCE, there is parody in college football and top quality teams to be found in EVERY conference. This is the point.

I know this is a shock to the system like ice water on a cold day but when reality hits, she usually hits hard. It's time to wake up gents.

Hey it's great... you are number one before the first game. Let's see where you are AFTER a few, and heaven forbid you play a REAL team... one that's obsessed with winning!

BTW, when was the last time a non-SEC team won both the football championship and a basketball championship in the same calendar year! :D NEVER!!! How 'bout them thar Gators! :D

Hey, I'm all about the Gators doing something that hasn't been done before. I give credit where credit is due.

Let's pick this convesation back up after week 4. I think that is when things will start to get interesting.

The AP Poll is out. I bumps both Florida and Auburn down from the USA TODAY poll.

Here's top 10 + the SEC

1. USC
2. LSU
3. West Virginia
4. Texas
5. MIchigan
6. Florida
7. WIsonsin
8. Oklahoma
9. Virginia Tech
10. Louisville
13. Georgia
15. Tennessee
18. Auburn
21. Arkansas

Need to watch some Big Ten action to really enjoy college football:popcorn:

utdivermatt:
We don't need Les Miles lipping off to know the truth: The Southeastern Conference is better than the Pacific-10 in football. However, the Big Ten is better than both.

This year and most years.'

I would agree:D

DISCLAIMER: feel free to vacation me and delete, as this post, I would agree, would be considered drive by trolling in its truest form. My first:D

FYI... This news release just out! :rofl3:

FOX NEWS SPORTS & WEATHER

(AP News) - According to a study to be published on Friday, two of the
world's leading climatologists have gone on record saying that the extreme
heat in the Southeast is not a result of global warming. The two
leading experts have identified the source of the heat as being
centralized in the great state of Alabama.

According to their findings, it is a localized phenomenon that has
occurred 9 times in the last 25 years. Apparently, every time the
University of Alabama hires a new football coach the collective hot
air espoused from the "Bama Nation" about National and Conference
championships and premature recruiting "commitments" actually causes a
significant increase in air temperatures in the Southern US.

The study went on to confirm that the natural progression of the
following events will cause the heat wave to subside rather rapidly
after the first of September. Among other things, the assistant
coaching staff at UA that couldn't get arrested selling Gravy Train at
a Michael Vick barbecue will be exposed for the inexperienced group
that they are; and, finally, Coach Nick Lepre Saban will be seen
firmly clutching his pot of gold while mumbling about unrealistic fan
expectations to the media.

The study has confirmed that by the end of September more seasonable
weather should reappear.

Did LSU "spank" Miss State tonight or what?

Final Score.
LSU 45
Miss State: 0

Miss State's QB threw 6 interceptions. When ESPN asked past coach Jackie Sherrill what he'd say to the quarterback watching the game tape, he replied with "they need to burn that tape".

I like Sylvester Croom, but I honestly don't believe he's going to last the season.
