Ok, Recap Thread

Date is August 11 for the boil. Diving Aug 11, and 12 for fun.

Again, I'll provide a pot, propane, burner, Zatarain's, water.
Also plan on putting potatoes, corn, mushrooms, sausage, onions, lemons, garlic, etc in the pot (donations of the above are welcome).

What you should bring: Crabs (live), drinks, food for non-shellfish eaters/non hunters, sunscreen, gloves, catch bag, fishing licenses for the area you'll be crabbin'.

The rules:
Diving permitted from Destin to Mobile Bay. Snorklers also permitted to participate.
No catching more crabs than your participating unit will eat (Up to a dozen per person).
Crabs must be kept alive, and taken by hand. No spearing, gigging, powerheads allowed. Learn how to keep crabs alive during transport.
No "berried" crabs (egg-bearing females).
No whole stone crabs, claws must meet legal requirements.
No crabs smaller than your palm (or 5" across the back between points, whichever is less). This is a conservation rule, and not enforceble except by ridicule. Conservation-wise, Jimmies are preferred, but Sooks are also delicious (crabs, guys). If she's not "with child", she's fair game.

The boiling will commence no later than 3pm, but may be earlier depending on tides/return times.

There are T-shirts available at: http://crabgrab06.getbentscuba.com

You need a valid saltwater fishing license in the state where you will be "grabbing" you can get the FL online at http://myfwc.com/license/

Alabama requires at least a saltwater fishing license available online at http://www.dcnr.state.al.us/fishing/freshwater/license/

Preferred dive center is Gary's Gulf Divers (with his permission) for all fills and supplies, due to his support of this board.

Do you Cajun's boil or steam your crabs? (just curious... we've always steamed them )

I'm assuming you boil since you boil shrimp and mud bugs.

Uh, civilized people BOIL crabs, not give them a sauna. We want them to absorb the flavor, not open their pores.

You yankees (anybody north of Jackson, MS, Shreveport, LA, or Montgomery, AL:D ) just don't know how to cook.

And... Mud Bugs is so... so... plebian. They are Crawfish, or Crayfish, or Crawdads. Never bait (unless it's for a Largemouth Bass).

Are you in or are you out?

Request the boil be put off until 4:30 since high tide seems to be at 2:30 on Saturday(atleast the better of the two high tides - stupid neaptide weekends). :p

I'm definately in, even without the jetties, I don't think I'll have a problem getting my fill of crabs off the various wrecks in the area. I'm definately diving local that day, starting bright an early.

Now, the hoody or a Tshirt, if T, which?!? Friggin choices.

I'm not sure if I can go, but I'll buy a T-shirt. started a "T-shirt" list below. When I know I can go, I'll move my name over to the attendee's. Hope that helps!

Anyone else who wants a shirt, put your name on the "t-shirt" list below. How many do you need to sell Paul as part of the agreement for having them made?

No minimum, but I bought something like 6 or 8 myself, in L and XL for those attendees who show up sans paraphenalia.

If you want, I'll wait and get one of yours if they don't all sell so you're not out the $$$ (if you've still got some XL's left)
