Since Wed the 18'th isn't good for everyone, how about Tuesday night at Beavertail. 7pm. Parking lot to be decided on based on weather but maybe we could all meet up in parking lot 2 and start from there?

All are invited and the more the merrier!

Tuesday is up in the air. But I'll post something once I'm sure.

Same bat time, same bat channel...

To the dive site Robin!

7pm works for me.

Tuesday works for me..But I have a student working on NAv Specialty earlier in the afternoon. don't know if he'll want to tag along for the night dive. But I will check on it.

I've got a pal, who is dying for a 101 on night diving. We had the dive planned for Tuesday at Cape Ann. However, last weekend the water was chilly out there (48-52 deg). I will gather some info tomorrow, and if I don't like it, we'll head south. If so, we may come join the party at Beavertail.

Since I am not that familiar with the site, would anybody kindly post directions and meeting details?

Beavertail is a very rocky dive site, with a somewhat difficult hike down the rocks. Entry and exit from the rocks can be a little tricky too, but as long as the weather is good it isn't too bad. Once you are in the water, it is a very nice site, and relatively shallow. The deepest you will get is around 50-60ft, but some dives don't even exceed 30 ft (especially at parking lot 2).

It is located at the south tip of Jamestown, RI. To get there from MA take Rt 95 south past Providence and Warwick. You will come to Rt 4 South a little after Warwick. Take that exit. Follow Rt 4S all the way to the end, it becomes Rt 1 South. Take route 1S about a mile and then take the exit for Rt 138 East for Newport in Jamestown. This will take you over the Jamestown bridge after a few miles. Cross the bridge and take the first exit. Follow the ramp to the first stop sign, then go straight past the sign all the way to the bottom of the hill. Take a right here. Take this road all the way to the end. The road actually goes right into Beavertail State Park and does a loop all the way around it. Once you are in the park you will see parking lots coming up on your right. THey are numbered 1, 2 , 3 and 4. We are meeting at number 2 which is the last parking lot before the lighthouse. If you pass the lighthouse you went to far.

Hope that helps. If you are late, we may move to parking lot 3 or 4 for the dive after we meet depending on the sea conditions and people's moods.
