Actually, I see lots of spotted drums on the local reefs too. (BTW, Rodale's did one of those "how to tell them apart" sidebars on highhats and spotted drums a few months ago. I'll look through my old issues and post the reference if I can find it.)

I've been seeing some large (~4-6") spotted drums in the local reefs.
