So, what do you guys think? Beavertail or Bass Rock Rd? Doesn't really matter to me. Whichever site doesn't get picked could be used for the week after or something like that.

Either site is good as far as I am concerned....

The big problem with Bass Rock is that there can be a ridiculous number of fishermen, which can make diving the wall to the north a bad option. The last time I was there with a buddy of mine from NOAA and Scuba Bruce from here on the board, we were forced to go south instead over the sandy bottom because we didn't feel like getting hooked.

Well Wherever we go we just need to coordinate so people aren't scrambling last minute to figure out where to go

Lets throw it to a vote. I'll put one in for bass rock rd.

Looks like I have to get up really early (like 530am) the next day to go out and do some field work, so Bass Rock has the advantage of being closer to my bed....

I will vote for Bass Rock as well. We could do the first dive to the north and the second to the south.

fine by me

Sounds good too me.
My only Possible snag is I have a DM candidate who need to do his pool tests and if he can swing it then Wed night I'll be pooling it with him otherwise I am there.

7 pm at Bass Rock Rd sounds great. See you there.

The dives were excellent! Great vis. There were 3 of us Matt, Tim and myself.

Dive 1: Bass Rock Rd in Narragansett (aka 530 Ocean Rd). Some moderate sized waves (2-3ft range). Not too bad. Max depth 28 feet... vis was fantastic probably 20ft. Temp 64F Several good sized lobsters. Some big rock crabs. A nice black sea bass and a monster scup.

Dive 2: A nice easy dive in Narragansett at Pier 5 (aka Monahan's dock to the locals). Temp 63 F, vis just as awesome as dive 1. Max depth a mere 25ft. Saw a TON of lobsters. Many of them keepers. The most keepers I have seen on any dive in RI this year. Just a rough guess, but I probably saw 6-8 keepers. Sadly no RI lobster license this season so they all survived the encounter.

Probably the coolest thing of the dive though, I saw a small squid hit a baitfish and start eating it.
