What is a reasonable number of shore dives to get in a day?

Nice! I'm looking to get down there this fall. Were yours boat and/or shore dives? Presuming some of them boat dives, did you have a dive buddy or did you 'follow the DM'?

12 boat dives and 26 shore dives. I dive with my wife. There are singles on the boats, they generally just stay reasonably with the group.

If you want good boat diving I would not use Buddy Dive. They almost always go to Klein or main island sites near the resort. Gets stale pretty quick.

So do Dive Friends: the assumption is that people will dive sites easily reachable from shore, from shore.

I've been thinking about Bonaire but clambering over slippery rocks doesn't sound fun for this 63 year old. Is that accurate?

I just avoid such sites. Lots of others available plus boat dives and dock dives (Buddy Dive).

Just a note to say thanks for all the opinions in this thread. My wife and I are heading to Bonaire for the first time in August.

Bonaire is the place where I have been able to do most minutes per day on a consistent basis and one of the reasons I really like going back often. If you have a house reef and you have a willing buddy or solo dive, the limit is just your endurance.

Bonaire is a good place, if you ever thought of learning how to dive Nitrox and maybe learn how to do some decompression stops.

I don’t care about NDL – even in 4+h dives I never ended up with TTS>30 mins as the average depth is quite shallow. If I did care about NDL, there is still nice reef in the shallow parts at 3m / 15ft so you can start deeper and then stay indefinitely in the shallows and never incur in deco.
