Going to be in Vancouver June 30th - July 5th for a wedding and wouldn't mind doing a dive or two. I've looked online and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of companies doing charters, so if anyone knows of anything going I'd love to check it out. :)
I live in Hawaii and have been diving dry here for the last couple years. I just wear the drysuit shell and usually shorts or flannel pants and a regular shirt (thin tshirt in the summer and a long sleeve, thicker shirt in the winter) and love it.
My Andy's drysuit shell has a leak where no seals are. When I get done with a dive my left side below the waist is soaked. There are no seals or seams here, so I can only assume its coming from somewhere around the waist.
Living in Hawaii there isn't any places I know of that do drysuit...
I was there in January and dove there, it was amazing. It was expensive, but completely worth it as it is like nothing I have ever dove before. I am looking forward to doing it again.
Great thread, was just what I was looking for.
I am thinking of making a trip out that way in late February/early March for Bjórdagurinn, hows the diving at that time?
Also, how cold is the water that time of the year? I know it will be cold, but HOW cold? I am used to diving in Hawaii...
I suppose I could always just dive dry even out here. Its not necessary as far as a comfort or thermal thing, but at least if I wore my drysuit I wouldn't have to change. :)
Ah, so there it is.
Is it safe to assume that if you're wearing a drysuit that a single bladder will be fine, since you can just inflate the drysuit to ascend/maintain bouyancy?
What is the reason they only make them single?
The whole tec diving and diving with a wing is new to me (the reason I've only dove with a Halcyon wing, I haven't had the opportunity to try any other brands). The person I spoke with today about getting into tec diving mentioned that a dual...
Hey Charlie, yeah I eventually want to get into tec and diving with doubles. I've dove Halcyon wings (the only brand I've dove), and I really like them. I'd like to get a Halcyon setup, but if they don't have dual bladder wings then I might have to reconsider.
So, I still haven't decided which wing I want to get. I pretty much had my mind made up on Halcyon, until I went into a dive shop today and started talking to the guy about tec diving. I might get into that down the line, and he was saying that a dual bladder wing was pretty much necessary...
Thats what I've dove on before, so I know that I like it and I am comfortable with it. Also from what I've read it seems like Halcyon is top of the line, so if its a not too bad deal then I don't mind spending a little bit extra to get the best.
Do you have experience with something else...
Excellent, thanks for the reply.
I have found a few places that still have both for sale at relatively the same price. So from the two the Smart Tec is the best choice?
