Funny you asked that...I did a little research, they only get to be around 8-10 inches fully grown, so that's lot of fish cleaning to get a decent size meal, let alone something you'd have at a restaurant. That said, it might be interesting to try it every now and then. I've heard they ARE...

Not really concerned, Don. The online pharmas ARE cheap, esp the ones that'll ship to the U.S. I think we're talking about the "legal" route here. The side effects of most of the prophylactic treatments sound scarier than the actual malaria.....although I might be up for the one that causes...

I think BCress was giving us the benefit of his experience on the mainland. His experiences (i.e. jacking up the price of something when a US$ is around) are certainly consistent with my experiences in other 3rd world countries.

Caveat Emptor (Let the buyer beware). MOST of the independent dive shops in the West End have their dive package prices posted on their websites. If you're booking with one of them, make sure you compare what you're quoted with what their site says. If there's a discrepancy, ask why.

Use the HSBC ATM's while you're down in Roatan. They dispense either Dollars or Lempiras (your choice). As a former New Englander and NJ wreck diver, you'll find warm water diving much less stressful than diving the northeast....it may ruin you for cold water diving....just relax and have fun.
