Effect of Relative Humidity on compressors

So @rob.mwpropane and I were talking elsewhere, and the topic of "should you run the compressor on a humid day" came up. Kind of what was in another thread: Mainly (I think) the concern is about impact on filter life - does pumping humid air result in more moisture making it's way to the...

10HP 3ph electric motor from Bauer compressor

Any interest in the 10HP 3ph motor from a ca. 2001 13.5cfm Bauer compressor? It's the original Toshiba motor that came with the compressor. Compressor has a total of about 3700 hours on it, but a part of that time was spent with a 1ph motor running it (which is what I have it running on now)...

    Sold! 4500 PSI Bank Cylinders

I have 8 (maybe 9, thinking of keeping one) 4500 PSI bank bottles for sale. Mix of ca. 1998 and ca. 2001 hydro dates - I don't think any of them have been hydro'd since. Mix of 1/4 NPT (dual outlet) and CGA-347 valves. Located near Baltimore, MD. I'll be at Beneath The Sea in March and...

The Sinking of The Quest - Willow Springs, PA

This might mainly be of interest to divers who trained in the mid-atlantic area, and dove Willow Springs. This is a video that Smokey Roberts produced, documenting the sinking of The Quest, out in the middle of the lake/quarry. Smokey was a film maker, and owner of Smokey's Diver's Den in...

    Bauer BP13 - what should I know?

So as mentioned in my other thread on bank size, I 'ended up with' the fill station from my LDS. Aside from a whole lotta bank bottles, of course there's also the compressor. Docs/data plate says this is a Bauer "BP13-E3" which seems to be a package based on the IK12.14 II compressor block...

    Bank size?

So the shop I've been teaching at closed up recently, and I've 'ended up' with the compressor/fill station. This weekend I spent hookup up the bank bottles (compressor isn't quite hooked up yet, pending electric). As part of the 'package' I have 28 bank bottles - 23 are 4500 PSI, and 5 3500...

    Hyde's Quarry Closing

This weekend, July 7-8 2018, will be the final weekend that Hyde's Quarry is open for diving. Zebra Mussels were discovered in the quarry earlier this year, and the county has decided that's a good reason to terminate the diving lease. The quarry will also be open this Friday, 7/6 in the...

    Hollis wing compatibility

I have a DeepOutdoors stainless plate that I'm looking for a new singles wing for. For Reasons, I'm looking at the Hollis 38 lb wing -- and trying to figure out if the cam band slots will patch up with the DO plate. Is it possible to get detailed measurements, or has anyone tried such a combo? I...

First Friday Diving At Hyde's Quarry

Hyde's is going to try doing some weekday(ish) diving again this year. First Friday of the month, starting in June (June 3rd, 2016 that is) the Quarry will be open starting at 5:30pm. If there's enough interest, we'll stick around for night dives too. Grill will be fired up for "quarry dogs".

    La Jolla, 10/16-17

Tagging along on my wife's work trip to San Diego next week, and I'd like to try to get in a west coast dive while I'm out there. So far, seems like the best option may be some shore diving in La Jolla. Any pointers on a shop/etc who offers guided-like dives there? Will need tanks/weights of...

    Oyster Dive 10/25/2014

Undersea Outfitters has an Oyster Dive booked for this weekend, and last I head there were still a couple of open spots on it. Looks like water temps are still roughly in the low 60's right now. Best way to book is probably to call them - 410-517-4999. I think it's $115, but don't quote me...

    Hyde's Quarry Closing for Season

Hyde's Quarry will be closing for the season after July 27th, 2014. The County is doing a water recovery test on the quarry and will be pumping ~30 feet of water out of it to test how fast it recovers. The quarry is a designated future water source for the county, and the Maryland Department of...

    Silicone neck seal sizing

Does anyone have data on the difference between a 'standard' Waterproof silicone neck seal, and the 'small' variant? I bid on a 'small' by accident, and ended up winning it for a good price. :dork2: I currently use a standard SiTech neck seal, and I have yet to cut any rings off of it. It felt a...

    Chesapeake Oyster Diving - 21/Dec/2013

I have no financial interest in this, other than being signed up to go and wanting to see them fill the trip so the boat will run :) Atlantic Edge (in Maryland) is running an Oyster Dive on 12/21/2013. Chesapeake Bay Oyster Diving | Atlantic Edge Dive Center Oysters do keep a little while so...

    23/Nov/2013 Ocean City MD Diving?

Any ideas for diving on Nov 23rd? I have that day free while my wife is at a conference, and I've been coming up empty finding any dive options. Week before a holiday, and late in the year isn't helping, I know. Doesn't need to be anything terribly exciting - this would be my first Ocean City...

One day at Ginnie Springs for out of towners?

Wife and I are making the trek to Disney over the week of Thanksgiving, and planning on making a couple of stops along the way. We already have reservations at the Ginnie campround for 11/25, with plans to dive on 11/26. What's the best approach to a day of diving Ginnie? Any idea what the...

    Rawlings Dive Fest contact info?

We had pre-registered (and pre-paid) for Divefest prior to it being re-scheduled for the Hurricane. When we initially called about getting a refund, they said it wouldn't be an issue, but that they couldn't currently do anyting due to being without power (perfectly understandable). We held...

    GoPro "Goodman" Handle

Greetings, ScubaBoard! I just fabbed this up and was satisfied enough to put it out here for comments :) For our upcoming trip Down Under, we decided that GoPro cams were the way to go. Lightweight, does Video (in HD) and Still, and didn't break the bank. The downside to the GoPro's...

I'm booked onto the Spoilsport for a 4-day Minke Whale expedition (June 30-July 4 2011). Any other SB'ers happen to be going at that time? This will be my 2nd time on a a Liveaboard, and 1st time going as a "single" (My wife will be off in Townsville doing a field study for her Master's...

    Camping *near* Dutch Springs?

We're looking to make a mid-week trip to Dutch Springs next week, but camping doesn't seem to be available mid-week. Just about all of the campgrounds that I'm finding so far anywhere near there all seem to be RV campgrounds. Are there any reasonably close to DS that treat tent campers well?
