    The Computer Between the Ears

Frankly, and I know I will get flamed, I would never dive without one. Actually, two. It helps keep me safe, allows me to use multiple gas mixes during a dive and not have to think about it. Does that mean I am totally reliant on them, no. In my pocket is a set of tables I have run that...

    Knock Off Camera

I have the inotova edge Don't judge the quality of the camera on the quality of the videos. I suck at this so far, need to learn how to edit better. Understand I dive the northeast so viz is not the best.

    Knock Off Camera

I have an Intova, which I am learning to use. It was a lot less expensive than a GoPro, and doesn't need a case, the camera itself is protected. Customer service has been great and it seems to take quality videos

To integrate or not to integrate

Personally, I have seen too many cases where the transmitter loses sync with the computer underwater. I have never seen a pressure gauge fail. Do you not know your SAC rate? I dive two computers, but still have a mechanical depth gauge, so maybe I am just cautious

Anyone switch back to jacket/back inflate bc after bp/w?

I switched from a BP/W to a Transpack and the same wing. I couldn't get the hog harness on when it was adjusted to the way I wanted it to be while diving.

How fast do prices go down?

Used equipment is also an option. Scuba gear is often sold very quickly after purchase (people give up quick) and the quality of most is very high. Regulators last pretty much forever and BC's can be readily found on the used market in hardly used condition. As it is your first set of stuff...

Integrated octopus and a standard octopus?

Well, you are about to get a bunch of replies, I will start with my opinion. I would stick to a standard secondary regulator setup. I never liked the idea of trying to control buoyancy with the inflator in my mouth, in what is probably going to be stressful situation (you have a problem with...

Make your case: Best US city for diving

Brookhaven is on Long Island. I am minutes from some of the best dive boats in the world where we dive on true wrecks. The San Diego, the Stolt, Lizzie D not to mention the Andrea Doria. I could go on and on. Plus we have great shore diving. Last November I was diving from shore and...

    Closest diving to Philly

I dive from Long Island and we share many of the same wrecks. Diving in Wreck Valley is great. Many real wrecks plus the artificial reefs. Here is a web site that will point a bunch of the out for you. http://njscuba.net/sites/index.html

Should they require swimming for OW certificate?

My instructor required that I swim 100 yards within a limited amount of time (I forget how long). I have since have to swim that far with full scuba gear when I could not find the anchor line (I know, how can you lose the anchor line). I am glad I am in good enough shape to do it.

    Contacts Or Optical Lens Mask???????????

The other option is the hydrooptix mask. I used to dive with contacts, but I will not go back after getting this mask. I wear bi-focals and the hydrooptix mask corrects for both near and far. It has the added benefit of giving you actual size vision, not magnified like a regular mask

    Buying equipment...HELP!!

Choice for most of these items is very personal in nature. I would agree that you probably want open back fins, but there are many good brands. I use Mares quattro, and have been fairly happy. They are a bit stiff and if you have any problems with cramping I would pick something a little more...

    120's??

I don't believe that you can ever have too much air. If all your buddies are using 80's you come up with a real nice safety margin. If something bad happens you have the extra for yourself or you buddy.
