Thank you very much for all the recommendations.
In the end I went for a DTD 400'.
It was the best trade off between a decent reel and the cheapest price.
Now I just need to get used to use a backup light on a side handle intead of a top mounted handle and I will start enjoying my new toy...
I am on the market for a primary reel (cave - wreck penetration) and open to recommendation.
To make along story short I am looking for a decent primary at a reasonably low price.
Any tip is welcome.
Thanks
I've been diving quite a while topping up custumers' left overs. As long as the deco profile is safe it is doable. As a rule of thumb i was diving 40ish and 70ish. Ean40 has the advantage that one can safely use it for drysuit when diving trimix and bail out relatively low risk from depth when...
In an out of air situation you swap to your other regulator and close the cylinder you are breathing from. That's the point behind having a redundant system. Donate air is definitely not the first option. In theory, the gas left should be enough to abort the dive, that's why we use at least 1/3...
WOW!
You lucky guy, my rescue was not so full of emergencies, but nonetheless, it was really intense and in the winter, with uite old water.
It was really stressy, but also the part of my training I enjoyed most.
I am an instructor now.
The rescue was probably the part that clicked my decision...
If you are diving in Malta take just minimal kit, mask snorkel, fins and dive computer.
You can rent everything from the local shop, regulations are pretty strict and the equipment is pretty well maintained.
PM me and I can recommend you a couple of good divings.
I agree with you. In 2010 PAdI made a pretty deep restyling of the DM, simplified the exam and moved most part of the hot stuff to the instructor exam.
Good luck with your DM
Sure, OOA situation are most probably due to inattentive behavior, lack of experience, whatsoever,
But you cannot exclude
- equipment failure,
(e.g. SCUBAPRO - Product Support
Consumer Product Recalls - Consumer Product Safety...
Not sure if it answering your question, but I was thinking about my dive experience,
from being in the first buddy pair following the dive leader, then moving to the back of
the line dive after dive and I just realized that now I have them following me.
When I realized it, it was a kind of...
Divemaster completed!!!
Actually quite a few time ago and I have to say that it was a very nice experience.
I am happy that it took longer then the two weeks I was planning.
In the end Divemastering is a lot of fun and a small bit of frustration.
I am sorry for all of whom are disappointed with...
HI,
I was thinking about taking my instructor with Padi somewhen in the next future an I was wondering how the course works.
From the poor information I collected there is about a week of training with a course director and a 3 days exam.
I am wondering how the course develops and what are the...
Why do not insta-buddy with other solo divers, join a discover local dive, or hire a DM to buddy with him on his "solo"-dives?
It is usually much cheaper than having the pony inspected and it is much more useful in most likely emergency situations than an ooa.
The second option, if available...
Amazing thread!!!
The videos are beautiful.
I am wondering why the tomato expanded during pressurization.
How fast was the pressure gradient?
d(pressure)/dt?
Might it be related to different diffusion of molecules through the semipermeable skin and related partial pressure differential?
I cannot tellabout divemastering, I still have to complete my certification, but by now it makes fun.
I do nt even know if I will work as divemaster.
By now I helped with the logistic I led some dive, I assisted with open water and with advanced courses and made some dsd under supervision of an...
Yep!
I am half way to complete my divemaster course.
I think padi changed the theory part, now there are only two parts with 60 questions each, very few physics, a bit of physiology and a lot of other easy questions.
I also did the swim and got a respectful 3 points, which is not great, but more...
Thistlegorm in Egypt, 100fsw

I haven't been to there yet, but it is in my wish list
Milford Haven, starting 130fsw down to 240fsw
Darwin Award mode:
1) An OOA situation is not an usual situation i.e. there is already something wrong. e.g. someone forgot to plan the dive or to dive the plan, maybe distraction maybe a contingent and unexpected event.
2) How many degrees turning the tank open make the difference between a...
