Not sure about the scratch, but the ARC's come with a warning label not to use toothpaste or any other abrasives on them.

You can get a mask that has prescription lenses built right into it. Just bring you prescription into a local dive store and you should be able to walk out the door with a mask.

Diver magazine. It British and real expensive to get a subscription here, but it's the best magazine I read.

Go diving and if you think that you might want to go on to DM some day, see if a local instructor will let you tag along with some classes. You can learn a lot by seeing some of the mistakes that new divers make.
