Sola 1200 photo as primary dive light

Was diving a submarine in RI (U853) recently and another diver had both the Sola, which he used on his hand in flood as a video light and a Greenforce as his primary, which was much stronger. He said the Greenforce was too strong for video and resulted in too much glare in the video. The Sola...

    Shearwater Predator Review

"X1 (5 out 10): This is really a nice unit and was initially on the top of my list. The architecture is open thus nearly any algo can be used. Options include GAP, V-Planner and Multideco, all configurable. It also comes with 2 pressure sensors and is build like a tank!! Nice small unit with a...

    Xeo vs Q

Interesting that the Xeo and Xen kill batteries but the X1, with the same bright screen, does not? Wonder why?

    Xeo vs Q

Was considering the Xeo and hadn't heard about this issue - how bad is it and do you know why?

to all the owners of mares icon hd, or those who thought about buying it,i got Qs plz

Hey Meanguy, Thx for asking these questions - I've wondered the same, especially regarding the comparison to the Sol (or I'd actually be interested in the Luna) and I'd like to add a few more questions: 1. Sol brags about having the best electronic compass made. How do Icon owners feel...

How Close are you to your buddy?

I visit Jupiter couple times/year to remind myself what nice diving is - big critters (biggest turtles anywhere imo), warm water, drift dives, great viz. But I always laugh when a Jupiter buddy says they don't like diving in viz < 40 ft. If I ever got viz that good in RI, I'd be speechless...

    Must be the inflator, right?

My LDS had me hook up the bc and drysuit to a tank, presurize and then spray the back of the valve inside the suit to check for bubbles like a leak test. Well I did that and saw/heard no bubbles. Guess this means it's not the inflator afterall. Ok, but meantime both sleeves continuously fill...

    Must be the inflator, right?

I've got about 50 dives on a used (14 y/o) TLS 350. Initially had lots of problems exhausting air - fixed that by replacing exhaust valve. For the last half dozen dives or so, I have a new problem - I must exhaust air from the suit continously throughout the dive or I'll go feet up. This w/e...

How to: Install Dry Gloves in 5 minutes! (Picture Heavy)

I'm a complete moron. I bought the si-tech version from Dive Right in Scuba which works similarly. Had no trouble getting the rings in the gloves but have had zero success getting them into the wrist seal. I've tried doing so from both sides - sleeve and wrist - and I've tried each of the...

How serious a screw-up was this?

Certainly agree with the general sense that it's up to the diver. One time when I was a newbie on a skiff in Curacao and hanging over the edge ready to backroll, a dive shop attendant who was holding me on the edge reached over and shut off my air literally 1 second before I went over. He told...

No p-valve? So you mean short dives or diapers? Yuck. I hear diapers leak.

    Drysuit inflator problem?

Dove Sat and Sun this w/e at the same site in my TLS350. About 40 degrees in the water so several layers of fleece/underamour, S100 and 30lbs of weight, including 4 on the ankles (I know I should get rid of these training wheels but whenever I do, I invert). No buoyancy problems on Sat, nice...

    Atomic Regs..who has them? Likes/dislikes?

I had a very significant free flow (in fact, the worst I've ever heard or seen on any reg - my buddy, a cave diver with about 800 dives said the same) with my brand new sealed B-2 in 37 degrees on my third dive with it - a few weeks ago. Fortunately I was only in 30 feet of water. LDS looked...

Light Motion - Sola Dive 1200

Cool, thx for the feedback! I'd love to use it as a primary since I'm considering the canister-light cables route and am not excited by the weight, cable and complication. But I wondered whether 1200 lumens would seem sufficient in the New England Atlantic. My buddy's LightMonkey 35W puts out...

    Which drygloves?

I have these but I can't seem to get the rings formed into the wrist seals no matter what I do or which size I try. Looks so easy in the video's and I've discussed with DiveRightIn - still no luck. I've given up for this season. I'm getting used to dealing with cold hands in wet gloves down...

Atomic B-2 cold water update - not sure what to do

Well they're still looking at it but so far my LDS doesn't see anything wrong with my new sealed B-2 that had the mother of all free flows this past Sunday in 37 degree water (which was warmer than I had been diving with my old Aqua Lung Titan). I guess I'll just keep testing it in shallow...

How to break in a new Bare Dry Suit

If you got a stock size, won't Bare replace it with a different size for you? Maybe they'd charge a fee or something but they should still help you somehow.
