    Lautoka, Fiji Diving

With the shortish time in port, checking to see if the cruise ship offers a scuba diving excursion might be a good idea. If they do, it'd be convenient and also cover the tight turn-around.

    Question Condo in Cozumel

That text is also part of the fulviocozumelrentals listing for Orchid. The listing for Alegria doesn't mention the location. The location on Paz and Amor listings say something to the effect of, " ...on Avenida 55...located 11 blocks from the water and 14 blocks from the square...".

Trip Report Dive Sint Maarten - St. Maarten

I notice that Cozumel isn't on your list. Based on where you've been and your desire to go someplace new, that might be a nice choice too.

    Cozumel (and Cenote) Vacation Video

I had a hard time watching too, due to the jittery nature of the clips. Fwiw, this doesn't feel like completely user introduced jitter in the shooting. It looks more like a playback/technical sync issue, or something like that, or maybe some kind of stabilization setting issue, or possibly a...

    OW training for children?

My personal cheerlead would be Sandro Quijada at Deep Blue. It might be difficult for people to make specific recommendations as there are many, many dive shops on the island that have thorough, patient, competent professional instructors that would be suitable for instructing someone of any...

El Cid La Cieba vs staying in San Miguel

I would second this recommendation. It would be very convenient for you, plus you'd have easy access to shore diving. From El Cid, it's a quick (<10min?) ride to downtown and will cost about $6 US each way. It will be very quick/convenient to get a taxi at El Cid too.

Found: Sealife and phone near Palancar bricks

I may be misunderstanding something, but couldn't you dial one of the phone numbers and ask who it was that dialed them? For instance, maybe there's a contact called "Mom". You could dial the number and say "Mrs. Mom, I found your kid's phone. Is she in Cozumel right now?" Etc. Or maybe the...

Trip Report Casa Mexicana & Jungle Divers Macro Hunting May 2023

For a meaningful impact on short, ready to dive when you get on boat diving, I think you'd have to stay far south at one of the AIs. If you dive with the house op there will be no other pick-ups and the trip to the first dive will be quite short. Second site may take a little longer to get to...

    Coz Quick Reference Cheat Sheet

I would chime in to say that there are also books for Cenotes and Playa del Carmen. Another place one could check is Deep Blue (the dive shop) on Cozumel. I have all three and got them there. Likely they are out, but you could try.

    Tiki-la tanks?

If Jungle Divers doesn't work out you could try Roberta's Scuba Shack, which is probably 200 feet or so south of Tikila. I've rented shore tanks from Scuba Shack many times, even though I wasn't staying at Village Tan Kah or diving with Scuba Shack. I've rented night dive tanks too, but was...

    1st time to Cozumel Questions

I haven't stayed at the place you mentioned, but I would echo what others have said regarding AI food. The three times I've had food poisoning were the two times I've stayed AI, once at an AI south of Playa del Carmen and once at an AI in Jamaica, and the one time I ate Domino's Pizza in...

    Coz first time question

Yes, I'm from and live in North Dakota and also lived in Grand Forks for a time. The diving isn't great, but I like it. Lake Sakajawea, the Garrison Dam and the Dam's tailrace are within day trip shooting distance. The lakes near me are mostly shallow and very low viz, but those dives are like...

Is it common for experienced friends/family to accompany new OW divers who are traveling together?

I've "tagged along" with many friends when they've done their OW checkout dives, Discover dives and AOW dives. It's never been a problem. Your dive shop will help you figure out how to plan your participation for the confined dives and OW dives based on how they do those. It sounds like you...

    Shore diving in Coz

Casa del Mar and Tikila are basically the same dive, as is Scuba Shack for that matter. They're all right next to each other. Village Tan Kah is the very, very small hotel associated with Scuba Shack. Very convenient to stay there, dive and shore dive there. Staying at Casa del Mar and diving...

    Casa del Mar Cozumel

I've stayed at Casa del Mar many times and I've been diving with Roberta's Scuba Shack. That combination is extremely convenient if you aren't locked in to your diving arrangements through Casa del Mar. I'd say it's even more convenient than diving with any op that would pick you up from the CDM...

DC that pick-up at El Cantil

I contacted Deep Blue and according to them, they now do the SI on shore about a 3rd of the time. (Depends on the dive plans) When they shore SI, it's at Paradise Beach Club. Paradise doesn't charge for the bathrooms, but you have to make a purchase to use the chairs or other facilities. Same...

DC that pick-up at El Cantil

I believe Deep Blue will pick up from El Cantil and they do the SI (brake?) on shore. At least they used to do that. They'd usually go to Paradise Beach Club, but they'd also go to the conch pier occasionally. Now that the conch pier charges that may have changed. Edited to add that a private...

Good Dive Op/Accommodations Close to Palancar?

Deep Blue does their SI on shore. Depending on where the first dive was done or where the second dive may be, I've SI'd at Paradise Beach Club, the Conch Pier (pee pee pier?), Palancar and sometimes elsewhere, for instance, Cielo because the first dive was at Maracaibo and the second was to be...

    Review ATM report

My guess is that the savings will be based on many factors, but probably not enormous if you're aware of the existence of an exchange rate and you have the ability to calculate it pretty quickly. For me, paying in pesos is more convenient and a matter of peace of mind. Restaurants, taxis...
