Aren't we all one day?
Oh, I'm trying my best to speed things up through inappropriate gear choices, but Uncle Darwin keeps smiling on me...

Just went out to my dive gear building and gave some much-used light heads and reels with 5+ year old zip ties a firm tug: nope - still firmly attached. My budget does allow me to replace 10 cent zip ties every decade or so. Sometime I even use two for particularly important attachments

Tied line does look beautiful - I guess it come down to nautical art vs convenience. Oh - and the ability to detach with a strong pull, vs cutting a knot, if you can find it.

It's your equipment. Do as you wish. I've seen zip ties fail very unexpectedly. They also break far easier than cave line. I'll stick with cave line, you can keep using zip ties, and everyone will be happy! :)

Small stainless steel split rings for me. (only with streamlined/small items)

Super glue knot did not fail, but the rather sharp edge on the light chewed through the line.
And yes I should have inspected/changed it, and yes I'm going to die too.

While I admire advanced knottery, I'm lazy so just use a small zip tie ('cable tie' to you folk) or these bungie loop thingies to attach clips to lights:

Should I somehow manage to clip myself to an underwater obstacle, then both zip ties and these bungee loops will break if given a large amount of force...

I shall now sit back and wait for the first post to tell me I'm going to die.

Cheers
Rohan.
My new DGX regulator came with one of these bungee loops, and a length of line, and the snap clips of course. No directions.
I ended up using the bungee on my long hose, figuring that if it's clipped off and somebody really wants it they can still get it. Sort of a breakaway attachment. I was reluctant becasue it seems a lot less secure and won't hold up over time, but after a couple of dives with it I think it's ok. It'll just need to be an inspection item
