I’m not sure how maintainable an above and below solution would really be. Space on a Lob dive deck generally somewhat confined anyway and there’d be a **** ton of wear and tear. Given turnaround times between trips I’m not sure having stuff up top would work well in practise. I could be wrong.

Thanks! Where are they stowed out of curiosity?
In cabinet inside each cabin & in a bin on top deck. I’ve been on two Nautilus boats, Belle Amie (3x) & Undersea (1x). They both have redundant life jacket storages. They are very safety minded liveaboard. Check out their safet video, below.

Ok cool thanks, I can see how that could work well 👊🏼🙏🏼

During one of emergency drills I was in the saloon and heard the sound. I walked to the muster station & one of the DMs gave me a life jacket so I didn’t need to go down to my cabin to grab my life jacket from my cabin.

Pretty common to have extra PFDs topside if they are also stored in the cabins. Only having PFDs down below is asking for trouble if a fire starts when people are topside.
When I was running the Belize Aggresor IV, we kept enough lifejackets for everyone in deckboxes on the sundeck in addition to the PFDs in cabins. Turks & Caicos Agressor II only had PFDs topside if I recall correctly, but cabin space is more limited on that boat.

Taking your own Smoke & CO alarm?
Do you have any recommendations for a battery operated Smoke/CO2 alarm for travel? I'm heading to Raja Ampat in a month and want to use one for ANY travel from now on. Do they all have to be placed on the ceiling/ High up on wall?? Thanks!!🤿
