I'm a Fish!
Hiya all,

So in the market for a new 1st and 2nd stage regulator. Current set up is a mix and match of older cressi and mares stuff and its all a bit of a mess really, not a fan on how the older Mares 1st stage as the hose routing is a mess with it (cannot recall the model but its at least 10 years old). The existing 2nd stage (Cressi Black) will become my emergency back up on what will be the new long hose set up. I have worked it down to the following two sets.

Cressi Regulator Master R T10SC Chrome

OR

Dive Rite XT Regulator

Any one have any experience with either of these? I have had a look on the board with little luck (some Dive Rite notes). The reasons I chose these is they have the 4LP and 2 HP ports as I run a SPG and transmitter. I am leaning towards the Cressi as it would seem the hose routing would be a bit more cleaner on it's 1st stage compared to the Dive Rite...but I am basing that off photos online. The long term goal is to enter early tech stuff, nothing too mad as where I am you are lucky to get depths greater than 35 meters.

Cheers for reading and hope you can help,

I have no experience with those regs or brands. Just skimming over the descriptions and focusing on the 1st stage:
  • Ports: I think both have an HP port on the left and right side, although it's hard to tell.
    • From a side-mount perspective, I do like having LP-ports on a turret.
  • Balanced: Both are balanced.
  • Environmentally Sealed: DiveRight definitely is. I think the Cresi might be: "Hyperbalanced diaphragm with Watertight chamber"
There are definitely people on SB who know far more, but either 1st stage passes my "smell test."

I generally recommend Din over Yoke, and having an adapter ready for rental-tanks. Even if you don't have any Din valves on personal tanks yet, you may eventually want them.

edit: The other thing to consider is where or how you will get these regulators serviced. Some brands are easier to service over a long period of time. Some brands offer free servicing to the original owner for their pricier regs. Many dive-shops only service specific brands or models.

Yeah DIN will be the connection of choice, there is a few shops here that can service both these so not worried on that front.

Here is a ScubaBoard article I wrote on the topic of picking out a regulator. Might be worth a read before you decide.

I'd go with DiveRite before I'd go with Cressi based on my previous experience with Cressi's equipment.
Still 50 / 50 as I have had fantastic service and experiances with Cressi Regs and BCs. Existing set is 15 years old and whilst the BC is now a back up unit. The regs I still use, Ill be using that primary second stage as the back up for the time being

This was very helpful thanks

While not stated in the description, the DR XT1 has a replaceable stanless HP orifice too.....
