Just be sure to watch out for idiots with no situation awareness that do an uncontrolled descent through the middle of a class, swim under the platform to make sure that everything is good and silted out, and then park themselves on the line the class is trying to use for CESAs.
Would be super annoying if you ran into someone like that in your rebreather class.
We refer to those people as skittles. They all have brightly colored gear like the rainbow and rain down from the sky like in skittles commercials

Haigh Quarry this weekend.

It's horrible to run into those types of people that are so oblivious that they don't realize they are ruining other peoples dives. Buoyancy control does take some time to master though. I was able to get those plummeting descents under control within my first few dives. After a dozen or two I wasn't kicking up the bottom anymore. Any regular quarry diver knows not to stir up silt and to stay clear of open water classes. I hope the person you encountered was a new diver. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much of an excuse for such poor diving. A person like that could get in serious trouble on Great Lakes wrecks or technical diving.

Any recommended odds and ends to have on hand with CCR diving? Booster, transfilling O2, etc., aren’t going to happen due to being in a dinky apartment with no outside space or garage.

Spares kit ordered with CCR.

Can't boosters fit conveniently into a small(ish) pelican case?

I don't own a RB, but it seems like everyone's go to is a booster and larger tanks filled with drive gas?

Again, I don't own one, so don't listen to me.. I just like toys and a booster in a pelican case looks badass to me, lol.

🙄🤦‍♀️

After talking with the shop by the office, I found out with a bit of notice, they can fill O2 bottles and the cost is the same as the shops an hour away. So that is damned convenient. 5 minutes away. Even if I had to buy a couple more O2 bottles, heck of a lot cheaper than a booster.

Do they charge by cf or fill?

Cft. $0.33/cft. $14 custom mix fill. That fill charge is for anything with O2 that isn’t banked 32%. AL14. Someone from the outside comes in to fill it. The shops an hour away all cost about the same for a fill. I consider the distance due to cost of gasoline these days. So $18 and change for one fill. They do fill to 2600.

I spit out a buncha word salad in a DM to ya but I will say here - QC6! Make sure your dil manifold has a QC6 in it somewhere. I am not sure how the Spirit is setup and if that comes standard or not, but a QC6 is ultra convenient and helps in emergency situations.

So 12cf of 100% O2 in a 14cf bottle (@2600 psi vs 3000psi) costs $18?

How long does that last? And when you go to get topped up is it another $14 + cf needed?

I honestly don't know.. but I like the idea of a RB.

Yep. As far as I can tell, some shops won’t fill O2 to service pressure for safety reasons, it seems.
