So my dive rite transplate came in with XT voyager wing. I’ve got it setup, and have a few questions. First, where does the waistband typically sit when you dive? I got the correct sizing and I’m following the directions that you should be able to just touch the plate top by reaching behind your head, and the waist band sits just about belly button height of a little higher, is that odd?

Second, when I attached the wing by putting the dual tank straps through the plate, I know it will be tighter and all with a tank on, but it seems like there is a lot of play still and the wing drifts downward right now because nothing is holding it TIGHT tight. There are holes in it that line up with holes on the plate, is it meant to be held somewhat in place with something that goes there to hold the wing at least somewhat in the same place?

When I first built my BPW, I used sex bolts to attach the wing to the plate. Then I switched to bolt and wing nuts.

Do I need these?

The crotch strap will bring the waist strap down a bit. Waist strap should be cinched tight to control everything. I have my shoulder straps quite loose (a fist of space between strap and chest) for easy entry/exit. Somehow it works out that I can still touch the backplate, even though I'm not super flexible.

Do I need these?
Those will work fine or you can buy a single tank adapter (STA). I tried without the STA and did not like it at all so my BP/W has a STA

Yeah it comes with one of those pads for each of the tank straps. The tank strap Is threaded through it. It just doesn’t stop the wing from sliding up and down without the tank attached. Even with the tank attached I still thing there would be some play that’s why I was wondering if those screws were meant to be that holding factor that keeps the wing from sliding freely around?

How about for the waist strap location. Where do you all wind up having your waist strap sit with a BP/w? It can only go so low if I want the top of the plate to be close to where it says it should be.

You don't "need" them as the wing will stay in place fairly well being sandwiched between the tank and plate....but my preference is to use the sex bolts/book screws to keep my wing in place before attaching a tank, this facilitates setup and lowers frustration. I do, however, recommend plastic book screws (also available at DGX) for this application...there is no stress on the screws as it is just holding the wing to the plate. The tank will do all the heavy work when/if the wing is inflated. No need for those expensive metal ones.

Also, there is no need for a single tank adapter. The tank will stay in place just fine without it. My wife and I both dive with Dive Rite Voyager wings and have never had a tank slip or roll out of position. Originally backplates and wings didn't have slots for cam straps as the early plates and wings were meant for doubles. This meant a solution needed to be engineered to use a single tank...enter the Single Tank Adater (STA). The STA provided a means to attach cam straps to the rig to hold a single tank. Eventually plate makers started putting slots in their backplates for cam straps but they were a hassle for folks who wanted to switch between single and double tank setups...having the cam straps attached to the STA provided for a quick change solution...bolt in place for a single tank, unbolt and replace by bolting on a set of banded double tanks. There are folks who believe that one needs to use an STA or other device for "roll control" of the single tank...my experience is that this is unnecessary if a pair of cam straps are properly used. YMMV.

You use the screws to attach the wing to the plate. They were included in the package, right?
The "Pad" is for holding the tank when you strapped the wing/plate onto it.
I have nearly 2" of free play on my shoulder harness(single continuous) but your comes with quick release so different matter.
We are all built differently so you really have to try it first. Pool will be best.
STA is optional unless the wing(eg. halycon) has no slot for the cam bands. There is no need for me to use it.

The screw is part of the package in here.
