Where else can you get $5 nitrox fills??!!!
5 bucks is a good price but not as good as mine, I get unlimited nitrox fills for free at my scuba club. I'm also one of the air officers so I can fill my tanks any time day or night. It's a membrane setup too so no shortage problem either :)
the governor on Monday up'ed the covid restrictions where you now need to show you vax card to eat at an indoor restaurants
Bout time someone manned up. If you're too stupid to know that getting vaxed is the only way we'll ever get living again, maybe the loss of a few liberties will get you onboard.
Btw this wasn't directed at anyone in particular, peace out everyone!

Double-vaccinated wife caught covid from a double-vaccinated colleague. I'm double-vaccinated and also caught it off of the double-vaccinated wife. Not sure why people think the vaccines will stop the spread as it's patently obvious it doesn't. However, all three of us had a cold/light flu, so maybe that's what the vaccine did. The good news is we all have natural immunity for that version for a while.

Sorry it's off topic.

If the only benefit of the vaccine is not dying that is good enough for me.

This ^^^

@Wibble yeah it won't stop you getting it but as grf said, if you do get it it probably won't kill you. You're also a lot less contagious if vaxed so there's less chance giving it to someone you might actually care about.

And even if you don't believe one word I just said, isn't it worth getting it just so you can go to a restaurant, the cinema, sporting events, whatever...the list is only going to get longer. And my number 1 reason I got vaxed the minute I could, after already having to cancel several diving holidays over the last two years, I want to start travelling again! Anyway, it's a no brainer IMO
Ok rant over lol

This whole topic's a bit 'difficult' as there's a whole bunch of entrenched positions. It's really dependent upon the location too. In the UK it's endemic where we're getting 50,000 cases a day, but the hospital admissions are relatively low (and mostly non-vaccinated people). Deaths are still being recorded, but it's a very loose definition (if a piano falls on your head within 28 days of a positive test, you died of covid). Vaccination rates are very high. Other countries baulk at just one case, or worse still have highly politicised views on vaccines.

Yes, of course I'll be having my 6 month booster jab very soon.

Boo; the diving season's over. Only the damn quarries to call 'diving'. Need to organise some mine diving.

Yeah all good mate, I had no idea what your views about it were, until now, or anyone else here. As I said, my comments weren't pointed at anyone in particular, just any anti-vaxers in general lol

I'm from Victoria, Australia and the state capital Melbourne officially just became the most locked down city in the world. We've just hit 70% of the population are double vaxed so we're starting to open up now, even though we've still been up around the 2000 new cases and 5-10 people dying every day in Vic alone. Our vax rate are some of the highest in the world because by law here you can't do anything unless you are, which from my posts is obvious I fully agree with.

Anyway, covid is never going anywhere so we just have to do whatever we need to so we can get on living our lives as safely as possible with it.

Ok I've bunged on about it enough now, I'm surprised I haven't already had my wrist slapped for being so far off topic with such a sensitive topic lol

Take care all

Out of curiosity, in the US, do shops bank only the popular mixes like 32%?
The shop I teach out of banks 50%. They typically have made banked Nitrox by equalizing an O2 cylinder into the (empty) bank then topping off with air. We don't do a lot of Nitrox fills though so there's no one good standard blend to bank really.

I will probably have what is likely to be my last UK dive of the year in Capernwray in the next few weeks, as I don't really like drysuit diving. Next year starts in mid January with 11 days on Lanzarote where I usually meet up with quite a few brits enjoying a warm winter dive break I really love Lanzarote in January. You get on a plane at some dreary wet British airport and get off a few hours later to be greeted by bright sunshine and palm trees waving in the warm breeze. One diver who lives under 30 minutes from Bristol airport has now given up diving in the UK, reckons it cheaper and easier to fly down to the Canaries to dive.
Back to Nitrox. I don't think either of the outfits I referred to bank air or Nitrox, they fill several cylinders at once from the compressors and keep a stock of full cylinders.

I understand the sentiment. UK diving can be a bit hit and miss, although when it is good it can be very good. Not having to travel is a great appeal (I hate airports and baggage) and UK diving also includes being able to collect food to bring home. On my last dive a 6lb crab came home and we have a drawer in the freezer dedicated to scallops!.

As for palm trees, I have one of them in my garden, and we had bright sunshine today but the 'breeze' was a bit lively (82mph recorded this morning)! As I live by the sea I'll not be planning a return to the canaries, but can see the appeal if reliable diving is needed.

Most UK place bank air but rely on partial pressure blending (drain, measured O2, and air top) for nitrox. Some will do a nitrox top-up but many require empty bottles (they are just lazy!).
