I've got the Seac Rock Boots to wear with my dry suit (socks). They fit well and are comfortable.
They have a clip to tighten the laces but there's a lot of lace left over. There's also a loop at the back to help pull them on that is velcroed down.
So my question is what are you supposed to do with the lace? Tie a knot at the clip at the front? Pull the clip to the back and hook it with the velcro?

There doesn't seem like a nice solution to this. The laces are both too long and too short. After several dives the knot has come undone.

Thanks to anyone who uses these boots and can give advice on how they leave them up

I have those boots. No matter how I tie them they come undone during the dive. What I do now and has worked so far is I pull the laces tight then snug the clip as far down as it will go. Then I don’t tie at all, I just wrap the laces around the ankle and stick them under the Velcro tab in the back tightly, then keep wrapping around to to the front. The excess I tuck under/into the criss-crossed laces coming up the shoe (top of my foot) if that makes sense. Worst case scenario (hasn’t happened yet) the excess laces would come out from where I tucked them, but then it would only be 7-8 inches of lace floating from above my heel in the back, not the 24” tail I had coming out of at least one fin each dive before.
Nice boots, I like them, but the lacing is weird.

One thing I learned early on with lace up rock boots is to get them wet before lacing up.

Dry laces will come loose once they get wet during the first dive, and even with wet laces I normally have to re-tighten them prior to my second dive and subsequent dives.

I had a dive today and I did more or less what you do except I made a reef knot.
The suggestion from the other reply to get them wet sounds really good. In summer I have to jump in to avoid overheating in my dry suit anyway.

Thanks for the tip. The laces are just too short to make a good knot after wrapping then around the ankle. Too long not to wrap them around the ankle.

I actually preferred long laces. I used a little lace tightened that slides up and down the laces to hold them tight, then wrap the laces around the boot once, tied a knot over the tightening slider, then I would roll then ends of the laces into the loop of the lace that went around my ankle. So nothing dangled at all. Probably not necessary in ow, but I wanted everything stream lined for caves.
