I have told this story a few times before, excuse me. About 15 years ago I went out on a dive to the Duane with ex-Ocean Divers. I was buddied with a young, very fit, Navy guy who had just finished OW, AOW, and nitrox with 9 training dives. We had a long discussion before the dive. He was not at all boastful but was relatively confident. The current that day was quite brisk. The swim to the down line was in good current and it did not let up appreciably at depth. We had agreed that he would let me know before he it 1000 psi. We started to explore for a while when I thought to ask him about his gas. In a short period he was down to 800 psi. We swam back to the line and I stayed with him until he surfaced and was back on the boat. I descended and finished my 45 min dive.

At least he didn’t ask “what’s NDL”, so you had that going for you.

Insta-buddy DECO Diver: What’s NDL?

Several times per year I'm asked by another diver why their computer is not acting normally. The usual answer is that you missed a deco stop and are in violation gauge mode. They usually look at me like I am an alien. This happens most frequently with RGBM computers, Cressi, Mares, and Suunto. But this also happens with PZ+, especially if they are diving with someone diving DSAT or Buhlmann, with a GF high of 95.

Bananas are great dive boat food. Tastes the same coming up as going down...:vomit:
Different bananas taste differently and also depends on degree of maturity.
I have no experience on "coming up" but suspect with taste of gastric juice as well.

I find a banana to be a perfect, lite and healthy before dive snack. I don’t like to dive with a full stomach so it works for me - and I’ve never had a cramp when diving so far!
n=1.

I can't tell you how many times I've been geared up ready to go and another diver will act surprised and ask me how to set their dive computer to Nitrox. Invariably a one button cryptic thing. I just say dive it on air and remember your MOD.

Don’t forget to bungee your tank after you gear up. Fortunately this has never happened to me, but I’ve seen fully prepped tanks (regs, BCD and weights) nosedive into the boat deck numerous times. Very, very ugly!!! Unfortunately it’s easy to get distracted on a busy dive boat and forget to secure the tank.
