To close the loop, I contacted the SubSurface support team, and Salva sent me a link to a conversion tool that quickly and easily converted my existing SmartTRAK log file to something I could import into SubSurface. I'll still use my SmartCom and will really miss the air integrated info, but my Suunto will be the source of my dive logs when needed.

THANKS to all for the support and answers! I really appreciate it!

For something that's not that well supported anymore, sounds like a happy ending! I have an air-integrated console computer (Aqualung i550) and it is super handy, I agree. No need to write down starting and ending pressures, just tank size. Happy diving!

Completely fed up with Windows, I finally switched to a MacBook Air. I have a to-do list of things that I need to reload, and am stumped with dive log software.

I have an Uwatec SmartCom that I love, love, love. I see that Dive Log DT can handle the infrared transfer/import, but without the SmartTRAK software **How do I adjust the settings on the computer?**

Also, $25 seems a bit steep for just tracking dives. Is there anything else Mac friendly that works with the Uwatec SmartCom? According to their websites, MacDive and Subsurface will not, and those are the only other options I found searching here and via google.

Thanks so much!

Yes, DiveLogDT can download your SmartCom dives via IrDA, but we do not support changing any settings. As you already mentioned, neither MacDive nor Subsurface will support IrDA on a Mac, but we added the needed software and drivers to make this work for us. The hard part these days is finding a compatible IrDA USB dongle but it sounds like you already have one of these.

We also offer a "one time" conversion of your Windows based SmartTRAK logbook into our own format. If you email your SmartTRAK logbook to our support email address, we can convert it and email it back to you.

As for changing your settings, I would try ScubaPro LogTRAK for macOS. You can download it from ScubaPro directly for free from here:
LogTRAK -- Mac

They also added the needed software to make IrDA work on the Mac and although it doesn't say it's supported, LogTRAK *may* support your older SmartCOM and I think it's worth trying. I have used it with a SmartCom in the past (years ago) and it does support other IrDA based dive computers and so it may be worthwhile to try it out.

Let us know if you have any questions,
Thanks,
Janice

You could make a bootcamp Windows installation on your Mac, you would need a copy of windows 10 (which sounds like you already have). This would allow you to boot your Mac into windows instead of MacOS for the things that must be done in Windows, you will always default boot into Mac you need to hold a key combo on startup to bring up the menu to select Windows. Virtual Machines are okay but sometimes they have issues (and when something like an IR transmitter that would seem to be more prone to it). This is how I do some of my work, either there isn't a good Mac alternative or it is missing a feature, or some driver at a low lever just doesn't play well with a virtual machine.

True, virtual machines provide just a subset of a true Windows installation with Bootcamp. All the Macs at my home are dual-booting with Bootcamp, and some of them are more often running Windows than Mac Os.
Only the old Macbook Pro 17 of my wife runs Mac OS only, as the discrete ATI GPU is burned, and so I applied the mod for forcing it to always use the integrated graphics only. Works well in Mac OS, but it cannot boot anymore in Windows, as it requires the discrete graphics. The Windows partition is still on her SSD, indeed...
Here the explanation on how to revive an old Mac with the discrete graphics burned: Disable Discrete Graphics on MBP

+1 for DiveLogDT. We've been using it for a couple years now, on Macbook Air/Pro, iPhones, iPad minis. We can easily sync using our dive computer bluetooth (Teric and Oceanic Geo 4.0) to the iPhone then two way sync to iPad minis and Macbook Air/Pro. Two way backup is on iCloud. I had an issue on my Macbook Pro with the equipment and marine animal section. Janice was amazing and quick to help me resolve. A software update followed. Wow! Highly recommend!
