Dove Breakwater today after 3 months in solitary confinement. 5 foot vis down to 20ft depth. At 30 feet it opened up to 20-30 foot vis. Pretty cold at 49 degrees. A bunch of live, fully finned Molas were out and about. It was a great day and a great dive.

Did another 2 great dives at South Monastery on Saturday! Pretty much a repeat of my 6/15/20 post except, for the second dive we tried a new compass heading of 290 degrees. We found some very pretty rocks, but not the same as last Saturday (no wolf eel). Got a little confused when we turned around to head in, so I surfaced for a compass heading and then we were fine. Surf had picked up a little and one of my buddies got rolled in the surf while exiting, but she came through it ok.

There's a rock on the beach and we try to exit to the right of it - closer to the end of the beach. On the second dive, that made a big difference. Instead of coming in underwater we surfaced a bit further out to keep an eye on the surf and aim for the corner.

Hoping conditions continue to hold and we're planning to go again this coming Saturday.

I'm encouraged by recent reports, thank you. Sounds there is still some decent visibility out there, albeit sometimes at depth. Has anyone heard anything about when Pt Lobos will open?

There was an article in the Herald on Jun 12th claiming that CA State Parks was hoping to open Pt Lobos by the end of the month, but had not yet settled on a date. That's the most recent info I have. So, hopefully soon :)

MacAbee was like a lake this morning. Viz was 5-10’ in the shallows but opened up to about 20-25’ at depths below 30’.

2 at Breakwater today. Vis was 15-25ft. Vis improved as you got out farther. 2nd dive the vis dropped off but still good. Saw Salp chain, Nudibranchs, Cormorants and Seals.

Dove Breakwater again today. Beach was closed but they were allowing divers. A little bit better than yesterday. Great weather and conditions. There were a bunch of Rainbow Nudibranchs in the sand area off the wall. 15-25ft vis.

North Monastery today was 50 degrees water temp, milky blue with particulates and 25 +/- vis. Vis didn't get much better the further out you went. Waves were moderate and so was the surge. Walk in walk out. Second dive was Breakwater wall. Vis improved as you went out. Best vis was along the wall down near the sand. 15ft +/- vis. The Rainbow Nudibranchs are back. There was also a bunch of Dorids. A great dive day.

North Monastery today was a bit rough, thigh-high waves steadily. South was looking good. First dive had very good visibility, 10m / 30ft. even in the shallows by the rocks, 9m / 30ft, with brisk 12C / 54F water and 1m surge at times, 56 minutes. Second dive was after noon and there was some swell developing across the entrance, even at the sides. Saw a bunch of tiny fry, which was neat. Also a bunch of Lovecraftian yellow feathery tentacles, looked a bit like sea stars but no bodies. Viz a bit milkier but still decent, 48 minutes along the kelp @ 17m. A fair number of parents letting their kids play in the water, unfortunately, but there is a lifeguard and the bathrooms are open.
