Maybe we can get back to the discussion and exchange of thoughts how scuba diving will/should look like in Indonesia when this is possible again? And how we (the resorts/boats) should reinvent our business. After all, Indonesia still will offer some of the most amazing parts of the world. Both above and under water. Thanks for all input until now.

Florida is a good example to follow. They are already open in May.

Also as pointed out in many sources about the virus that heat & moisture would weaken them.

I'm going to take my own risk to go on liveaboard in July if the boat is ready for me. As long as I follow the protocol (social distancing, wearing mask when maintaining that distance is not possible, clean my hands as often as I could, stay away from crowded places, having dinner in outside area, etc.) which I have been doing for the last 3 months, I should minimize the risk from getting the virus.

During this working from home period from mid March to now, I have been doing a lot more exercise, like riding my bicycle 30-50 km / day in the morning and walking about 5-8 km/ day in the evening with my dive buddies & neighbors since the gym is closed. I feel healthier than before the pandemic. Being healthy is also a good prevention from getting sick from the virus.

Good luck you all. Stay safe!

Not one single scientific peer reviewed study agrees with this.

Hi Indah,

You have a really good point. Unfortunately, there are very few "scientific peer reviewed study (ies)" regarding SARS-Cov-2. When an expert says, "the science says" (Dr. Fauci), don't believe them. There are very few studies that are complete, randomized, peer reviewed, and double blind for 19. SARS-Cov-2 is way too novel for science to have figured it out.

NEJM has disgraced itself twice in this pandemic. They have been laughed at by scientists from around the world for their peer reviewed statements that were published in their journal. They used 3rd party falsified data. Yeah, the articles were peer reviewed, but it was garbage in and garbage out. NEJM publicly retracted both articles.

Your opinion on 19 is probably no worse than anyone else's, or no better. I am in the same boat. Dr. Fauci has proven himself to be our boatmate. He was flat-out guessing when making his prognostications.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. (Santayana) SARS-Cov-2 appears to be following the history of Corona and cold viruses. They mutate themselves out of relevance.

I will now iterate my opinion, if you are in a nursing home and at the end of your life, or have acute morbidities that make you vulnerable to flu, pneumonia, or SARS, lock yourself into a safe facility or home. Don't risk it. For the rest of us, we need to get on with our lives in order to save the vulnerable. Herd immunity is what will save the vulnerable.

People under 60 years of age who are healthy are not dying from 19 (remember, anomalies are a part of life). I may be an anomaly that dies of 19 (I believe I already had it though). Life is a gamble. Living in fear is no way to die, or live.

How many vaccines are available for colds and corona viruses? I don't think there are any. I wonder why?

Healthy divers in Indonesia should go diving. They should live their lives. Be careful, be thoughtful of others, and dive.

cheers,

Hi Dan,

I have stepped up my daily exercise regimen. Also, my wife and I travelled to the free state of Georgia and had a grand time. We rode the Silver Comet R/T and the Chief Ladiga R/T. We drove through another free state, Tennessee.

Huey Luey's Mexican Restaurant in Hiram Georgia was incredible. Malone's on Man'O"War Boulevard in Lexington KY is superb.

We liked Tennessee so much, that we drove back two weeks later to hike The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We hiked our arses off. Gatlinburg was interesting. Good food, good booze, and lots of good people. The healthy were out living their lives. They were not living in fear. They were getting sunshine, fresh air, and exercise. What a great combination for fighting disease.

Our next trip is to Key Largo in two weeks. We will dive with some SBers. I am not worried about SARS-Cov-2 while in the ocean. Too much salt and too much dilution. Just my opinion.

Enjoy your boat ride! I am sure the diving will be great.

cheers,
m

A practical point. How do see see having your meals on a boat? Or is the vessel that large that you can keep a distance to the other guests?

Hey Dan, I've had to change my exercising routine up also because of gyms & public exercise equipment being closed. Unfortunately for me there's no chin up bars open, so I'm unable to do my daily routine of muscle ups, pull ups & chin ups. So I've gone back to exercising in my room, 5 sets of 100 push ups is my target, but as I work 11.5 hours a day 7 days a week, I've only been getting 4 sets of 100 push ups a day. 500 sit ups a day is another goal, but only averaging 300-350 a day lol. The swimming pool at my work has been closed for the last 3 months, so I can't swim also. But it's winter here in OZ, so it'd be a little chilly to say the least, but I'd like to acclimatise for South Nusa Penida cold water season like I did last year every night after work...maybe I'll have cold showers every night to remind me of how it would feel... hahahaha

I agree with most on what you write. Nobody should ever live his life in fear. Life is not a gamble actually. We all die. But I cannot find information that Corona virusses mutate themselves out of relevance. At least not MERS and SARS.
