Is Kevin up and running again? I didn't see anything via FB, but his reservation system appears to be open; however, not sure to what extent people actually use it, as I haven't had the opportunity to dive in FL in quite some time.

Hopefully things open up more. I was talking about my instructor for my helitrox course, and he isn't sure he can get spots for next weekend as his normal charters aren't accepting independent instructors.

I don’t know if he’s running again or not. I’ve not heard.

Did two dives this morning with Starfish in Boynton. Only 6 divers on the boat and two crew. Plenty of room to spread out. Starfish has new procedures and they ask all divers to wear face coverings when not in your gear. They also ask that you bring your own water/drinks and your own snacks. This is to minimize cross-contamination risks.

There was a noticeable 2-3' groundswell plus wind driven 2-3s so it was a bit bumpy but very manageable. We had at least 60' of viz and probably more. I could clearly see my float and flag on the surface from 55'. Water temps are 79-80 currently. We had a trickle of a north current with a noticeable east-west swell due to the groundswell from the remnants of TS Arthur. The water was a nice Bahama-blue!

The marina was VERY SLOW! For those that dive out of Boynton you know how busy that marina can be especially on a holiday weekend. Not today! It felt like an off-season weekday honestly.

Hi @annasea

I texted with Kevin at Underwaters Explorers today. I hope this is the Kevin to whom you refer. He is not yet running. He is waiting for a period to see what Florida reopening does to the statistics. He is also figuring out how to best implement distancing and other precautions on the Explorer.

I am planning a visit to SE FL in the next week or two for a week to 10 days of diving. I'm hoping to have the opportunity to dive with UE. I will post on my trip.

I've dove with Starfish but always showed up with a buddy. When showing up alone do they let you dive solo towing your own flag or do they pair you up with insta buddy?

They let me dive solo towing my own flag. Only occasionally do they ask me to instabuddy but only when the boat is full and the number of flags limited. But they know me well as I'm a regular on the boat and they know I have my crap together. Also I dive with a pony for redundancy and have a Divemaster, Solo and Trimix card. Not at all saying you're not equally qualified (or more so!) just qualifying the circumstances for why the let me dive solo.

Thanks for the info and clarifying....
.. and no offense taken LOL, you are way more qualified than me..

I would communicate with Adam and Maggie regarding your own circumstances. I bring my own flag and reel so as to not have to use the communal equipment, especially when crowed. Plus, then they know which one I am :)

Yes, Kevin Metz. I didn't see any re-opening announcement on FB or his webpage, so was wondering. Ideally, he's back at at soon if it's still his primary source of income, or he's found other ventures to put his talents towards.
