i did find however that my sleep patterns completely changed. i went to bed much earlier than normal and got up way earlier than normal. i always found that interesting. in our normal daily lives we don't just go by how we feel. we have to be up at a specific time to be at work and so we go to bed at a specific time in order to try and get a decent sleep. even when i have gone camping in the bush alone it was the same for me. early to bed....early to rise.
Yo tambien. My first morning and thereafter on Cozumel I am up at first light or before, and if I am still awake at 10PM I am nodding off.

There is a certain bliss in solo travel. A chance to only listen to the voices in your head, to heed only the internal whisper. The cacophony of life melts away to reveal only the sound of your bubbles. I miss my daughter painfully but love her all that much more dearly when I see her. As an extrovert it is my chance to re-energize; to regain something I have lost along the way. I would like to pretend it makes me a better husband or father but no, it just makes me happy.
Before a recent solo trip to Tulum I took my wife out to dinner and told her how much I appreciate these trips. She looked across the table at me and told me, flat out, that she resented me for it. I pondered that for a minute and told her I was totally OK with that. Because I am.

I can break away for a week or so each year for a motorcycle trip somewhere on the globe with my posse, but if I ever went diving without my wing girl, she’d castrate me

enjoy!

Same. Especially Mexico.

I'm pretty sure I'll be the same way. I've been missing something for years now. My wife and I love to travel, but have drastically different ideas of what vacations look like. My motto this year has been, ask for forgiveness rather than permission. This is within reason, but really need this vacation for me!

Next on my list is that Harley I've had my eye on for years! Maybe this is the year, we'll see. She hates my Mustang so whats the harm right???

Question, so I have a 3 mil shorty suit, and the my next option is a 7 mil full. You guys and gals think the 3 mil shorty will suffice, or should I start looking at 3 or 5 mil fulls? 7 mill is way overkill and I refuse to even bring it after being cold Michigan diving for the past 3 years!!

I would wear something long regardless, just for protection against scrapes and scratches. So either you could buy a full length skin (like from Mako spearguns, which I have and like), then wear the shorty on top, or just buy a 3 mm full. It won't be your last opportunity to wear the 3 mm full for short, since it is kind of standard gear across tropical diving. And if you went somewhere colder you could always layer the shorty on top.

Congrats on the trip. I'm in a similar situation, doing a solo trip to Socorro for a liveaboard later this month. My wife loves the beach and recently started diving, however has no desire to do a liveaboard. I asked permission and as soon as she kind of said yes I booked it, too late now.

Enjoy the trip, enjoy the diving, and be safe
