"Yup - I’m not going to go on our dive club’s trip next November as the round trip coach class airfare from Newark, NJ is ~$1,800!!! That is absolutely insane!!"

I fly Delta, which is what I was referring to. I made note in my OP that I hadn’t checked any others carriers. I’m happy to hear that it isn’t across the board. Maybe I’ll consider a different airline for the future. Flying out of AVL does limit me and Delta only has flights to BON one day per week, Saturday. Every once in a while they have some Sunday flights. When I check and posted, the flights were over $2k from AVL.It appears that many have gone down. I’m happy to see that. I just thought it was strange. I’ve never seen flights to Bonaire that expensive, even during peak times. August is usually the cheapest from here. I was comparing apples to apples in my post.

If you book with points, is there as big of a delta(no pun intended)? Some airline mileage programs are based on region rather than the normal pricing, so maybe that'll cover it.

A consideration for me with which airline is also baggage fees. I can take 6 bags for free with Delta for the 2 of us. We bring all our own gear as many probably do on here.

Sadly, they go hand in hand. That April flight I posted is 147k points, which is a ton. I normally try to get it around 50-75k points. The higher the fare, the higher the points.

Apparently you still refuse to accept 2 facts that I’ve posted:
  1. I’m not interested in a 1 stop though Miami - too many past issues going through that airport
  2. The price has more than doubled for same flight at the same time of the year since 2018
Continue your denial - but the facts are the facts.

I live in AVL. I have to fly through ATL to get to Bonaire. I noted that I only checked Delta. I travel for a living so my status and points are currently through Delta. I travel to BON 3 times per year. I constantly look at the rates for the upcoming months and plan my trips around the best fares for flights so I’m extremely aware of “typical” rates. With Delta, the further out the more expensive to BON. So, I usually don’t book too far in advance. I just pulled Delta rates from AVL to BON Apr 4-11 and the flights were over $2k. I have never, ever seen that in the last 3 years. Believe me or not, pull it up. I added a pic. I hope the rates do come down as that is crazy. I don’t care how awesome BON is, I’m not paying $4k for flights. I love BON and was looking forward to going back.

I think it’s a little weird that I touched such a nerve with some with my statement. “How dare I make such a statement” albeit true.
Did you notice you were trying to fly on Easter weekend?
Delta also flies on Friday at that time of year, so if you go on April 3 the price drops (supply and demand). and if you return on April 18 (skipping Easter weekend) the price drops to $797. Stay for two weeks!
You got some hate for your OP because the implication was that all cities and all days were outrageously expensive. They weren't.

Of course, the Op never said that (not did I) - We merely related personal and factual experience of airfare increases vs the past.

Firstly, the flight on Fridays only gets you into ATL and then you have to spend the night and fly out the next day. Secondly, when I posted this all of the flights were elevated. Thirdly, they flights are still elevated YOY. I wasn’t “trying” to fly on Easter. I never look for specific weeks. I can take time off whenever I want so it doesn’t matter. ALL the flights were high.

I wasn’t intending to “imply” anything. I just posted what I was seeing. If people actually read my post, they would see that I indicated that I was only referring to Delta and hadn’t checked other airlines. Did I say ALL FlGHTS, ALL DAYS??? That’s a ridiculous statement. Not sure my OP should have incited HATE.
