My first test dive with Eddy fin was when I was wearing the scubapro boots. These are probably the slimmest, thinnest boots out there as they are designed to slide into Jet fins foot pocket. It is essentially a sock with a rigid sole. While it fitted my XL-Jets perfectly, it was loose and wobbly inside the XL-Eddy fin. While test diving these in the pool, I noticed that the fit was imperfect, I did not realize just how much power was taken away by the bad fit.
Very interesting. I have a good scar (blister that went too far) from my solid attempt to use my eddy fins for a week last June. I did all kinds of modifications to the strap in an attempt to get a better footpocket fit. Other than the foot pocket, I love the eddy. It can make good power and it's slightly positive... I've been using the scubapro booties.

I had been planning to list them on the SB "for sale" section. I'll have to pick up some other booties and try the eddies again before I do that. I'd like to be diving the eddies with a wetsuit and my diverite xt's with a drysuit... if this solves the problem.

My size XL F1 fins are 2# negative in fresh water.

My size Regular (no idea why they don't just call them size Large) F1 LT fins are 1# negative.

Do you happen to know what the actual buoyancy is of Jet fins (in any size)? I have not had a chance to weigh a pair myself.

Only from the results on students in the water...

Level 1, 2, and 3 for needed trim adjustments. Fairly consistent gradient from 1-3. Turtles or other Jet analogs also apply a similar effect.

I also had some IDI fins that were comparable in buoyancy to the Hollis, but much smaller fin area and a little lighter out of the water.

Still waiting for XXL to get back in stock... Have XL for diving wet and love um!

Hi all. I am interested in purchasing a deep6 eddy fin. Not too sure of my sizing though, hope someone can help me out. I only do wetsuit diving.

My shoe size is usually US 8.5/ or EU 41/42. The current boots I'm using is mares classic NG dive boot 5mm size 8 and size R Mares power plana.

Should I take S/M or L sized Eddy fins?

have you tried nylon scuba socks? My issues went away after starting to use them - and it makes donning/doffing the exposure suit a breeze

@GilGilGil I also have a 8-1/2 to 9 shoe size and after considerable debate and research I recently bought the large Eddy fin. I also just back from a trip to Cozumel and was very happy with the fins and fit.

IMHO a good fit only comes from trial and error with different boots and possibly different boot neoprene socks to find the perfect fit. After buying the fin, I also bought the 3mm Deep 6 boot and found a (better) good fin with an added neoprene sock.

I'm wearing a size 9 Pinnacle Venture dive boot(soft sole) and the L works fine for me. (I was the guy on the Rea Sea Aggressor last week with the orange fins. They look good in the video.)

That's the thing tho right. Problem is that we have to guess our size and hope that it works. Can't try it in store for the best fit.

So you think I should be okay with an L? I am actually more keen with L since I want the standard flex.

I wear size 10.5 shoes, use 5mm ScubaPro booties, and the size L fits me pretty much perfectly.

Something I have noticed about fin fit: It seems like a lot of people judge fin fit by whether their toes reach the end of the foot pocket. I have had people tell me that their toes were jammed into the end of a foot pocket, so they needed bigger fins.

This is just my opinion, but I think that is backwards. I think if your toes are hitting the end of the foot pocket, the fin is too big. Specifically, the opening of the foot pocket is too wide and/or too tall. It's letting your foot slide too far forward into the pocket and that's why your toes are hitting the end.

I judge fin fit by how well it fits in the width and height, not the length. I want my fins to be very snug around my foot so that my feet don't wiggle in them at all, in any direction. I think my fins all fit me very well because they don't wiggle at all, and they are just a bit difficult to pull off after a dive. And, my toes don't touch the end of the foot pocket.

If a fin gives someone a blister, that suggests to me that it might be rubbing right there. Which suggests that it MIGHT be a little too loose, allowing it to wiggle and rub. Not for sure, of course, without actually looking at the specific person, fins, etc..

As a result of my observation of others and how they judge fin fit for themselves, I am very reluctant to take other people's word for how a certain size of fin fits a certain size of foot.

And please don't take this as critical of anyone in this thread. These posts just sparked thoughts from a number of people I have interacted with.

In this particular case, I would ask @cerich and go with his recommendation on size.

The “L” size has no flex to speak of.
