Seajay, do you have a good contact at showa? Maybe they can make a 721 (effectively a 720 without a full liner) just put the liner in the hand portion of the glove. This would leave the sleeve portion nitrile. And that should seal just like a latex glove without the struggle of doubling the glove to mount it.

Just an idea if you have someone there with enough influence.

I wonder if one can use plasti-dip to coat the inside (and perhaps the outside) to create a smooth surface to seal with the rings. I wonder if the liner would help the plasti-dip to adhere.

Yeah, A 720 without the textile liner would be great for divers who anyway uses liners and undergloves due to cold conditions.

I had amazing luck this morning. First, a little back story.
I finally got Merry to try her Ultima rings with 720 gloves last Wednesday. We made a couple of dives and she said she didn't even notice them underwater. She was able to put them on and remove them easily. She then said her dump valve had been leaking slightly. I tried to screw it on tightly to stop the leak. The next day, we went back out and her suit flooded after the threads on the dump valve cracked. She swam past me holding the valve in her outstretched hand. The rest of the day was not a good one for me. :(
I ordered a couple of new valves and some backup 720s for her.

This morning, I decided to put her gloves back on the rings. I stretched the O-rings before folding them into the gloves. I then attempted to stretch the gloves onto the ring without using the PVC tool. I placed the ring on my desk and was able to get the glove on in a couple of seconds. I was shocked. I then repeated this amazing feat with the second glove. I couldn't believe it. I was actually able to get the gloves in a perfect placement on the rings without struggling, sweating or cussing.

More good news DRIS now shows Xerotherm glove liners in stock.

finally got my ultima rings. with two people that know how they go on with the showa gloves, it was a easy 5 minutes. the timely post above about the FE gloves and I got those on order just now. it will be a good test this weekend with air temps in the 30's and water temp in the 40's. this thread has been a big help and hopefully this will leave my hands toasty as the 5 mil wet gloves at 45 minutes were becoming uncomfortable.

Picked up my Ultima rings today...
Fitting the system to my WP suit was so easy, almost so easy that I'm worried it's gonna leak.
Fitting the Showa 720 gloves on the rings though, took a little bit more force.
After having read this entire thread I was expecting a lot of swearing, blood, sweat and tears.
Turns out it was a lot easier than I expected after reading this thread, I just put a little bit on the ring and then jammed it against the floor with my foot and just pushed the rest over the edge bit by bit, took about 2 minutes per glove.
Can't wait to try them out in the water!!

Massive thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, it made it so easy for me to decide on what ring system I was going for, not a single question left unanswered here! :)

2 minutes.... even with the plastic pipe tool (no hope with just the wood holder) it took me quite a bit more than 2 minutes. I'm starting to think I'm the weakest person on hearth! +1 on the thread, thank you to all who contributed!

I didn't even use the tool, it was very smooth even without it, and didn't have any problems adjusting the lenght of the "skirt" of the glove if that makes sense.
When I compare the 720 to the 660 gloves there is a massive difference in how stretchy they are though, I reckon the 660's would take a lot more to install.

A few thousand dives so far, and only a handful of leaks... Like, when I hole a glove on a chainsaw blade (happens, but surprisingly rarely - they're pretty tough... And when it does, only the tip of that finger or whatever gets wet). I have never had a leak at the glove/ring interface, and I've never had a leak at the ring/ring interface.

I once had a leak at the ring/suit interface. I was underwater with the chainsaw and in an odd position due to the current and weird cutting angle. My shoulder and elbow were flexed hard and pulling on the drysuit and glove, which forced the seam open a little along the backside of my wrist. I got about a tablespoon of water in through the seam before I jumped (sudden cold spot), and that jump resealed the area and I didn't have a problem again for that dive.

When I got home I pulled the suitside ring off of the suit, cleaned everything up and put it back together. Turns out that I'd had a wrinkle in the wrist seal (which is trimmed down in my case) the whole time... Which really was the core cause of the leak.

I'm amazed at how resilient the system is that I was able to dive for so long with a bad seal on the suit - and not have a leak.

...So no, I don't think you'll have a problem with leaks. :)

Just to be sure - your suit came originally equipped with SiTech QCS Oval rings, right? Not the round ones? You pulled them (and the wrist seal) off and replaced them with the Waterproof Ultima Dryglove Ring system, right? With a wrist seal between the suit's soft ring and the Waterproof suitside hard ring (that the glove clips to)? The system should fit snug, but not hard at all. I always notice a little "snap" sound when I have installed mine. Did you hear the "snap?" It's more prevalent with silicone seals than with latex seals... But present with both.

I, too, have gotten pretty good at installing the 720s on the rings. It takes me just a minute or two, and without tools at all. Since getting the technique polished, I've been planning on making a video - but have been too busy to put it together. I'll do that today and post it so that y'all can see what seems to be working here.

Yes, absolutely... The thinner and stretchier 720s are WAY easier to install on the rings than the 660s. Huge difference - and frankly, a big reason to be a fan of the 720s right there. :)
