Something that doesn't look like it's been beaten to death with a sledge hammer, been attacked with an orbital sander or dragged behind a truck on a gravel road from coast to coast...character I don't mind but savagely beaten, not so much.

I have two that are beautiful but they are mated to the MK 5’s that they grew up with, they remain mated because I can’t bare the thought of breaking them up after so many years together. And I have two that look like they may have seen a few states being drug behind a car.

they just didn't perform as I thought they would on deeper dives , I was talked in them when I wanted to replace my Poseidon's.

How about your D-series? Did they do well at depth?

worked great in bikini 200 plus feet , but that was probably there limit ........dove them under the ice last year , will probably use the deep 6 this year

FYI, all-metal Conshelf second stages can still be purchased brand new. You have to be a commercial or military diver, or know someone who has a dive related business, but they can be had...expensive though $$$.

Or the secret handshake. Just over $300 for a second stage and around $240 for a first you'd better really want one, or be rich or be silly. I am the latter.

There are lots of current first stages that would easily hold up for 30-40 years with reasonable care. I'm not so sure about the plastic second stages. Maybe some will, who knows. The oldest 2nd stages that I have are metal; much more durable.

I have a bunch of old Poseidon Jetstream, plastics, they have hold up for decades and i think they will hold up for decades to come. My experience is that good quality plastics hold up better than metal in this kind of use.

Regs like the R109, mk5, conshelf (you get the idea, not intending to exclude any or make a definitive list) from yesteryear have stood the test of time. For ability to service, dependability, durability and ease of use.

Which current production regs do you expect to have similar or better legacy in 30 years?

I'm interested from the perspective there's a finite supply of these old regs I'd like to develop some "modern" alternatives I'll eventual start looking for.

I will say Poseidon Xstream or Jetstream (jetstream is not realy "modern" thou, still in production and a great reg), Considering Poseidons history, they don't take things out of production just for something new, they still produce the Cyklon after 60 years. (first in production 1958)
