Hi seniors,

Will need your kind input of how to secure your regulators, otco& spg.

I jus bought a new reg set (atomic b2) and relatively newbie on how to secure the hoses so as to streamline myself underwater.

I read about some octo holder and magnetic holder etc but unsure how useful or reliable it is.

As my regs are new, all are rubber hoses as I intend to use the money for my dive trips instead of adding more bling to my equipment.

I had seen YouTube videos but each got its logic behind.

So I was wondering what is the best & safe method.

If there is picture or video for illustration will be best !!

Octo on bungee under chin, spg attached via boltsnap to left dring or some attachment point left side. Easy and clean

i wouldn't get a magnetic octo holder if there's a chance your compass will be near it.

When I use one mine is very similar to the one posted above. Your local shop should have something similar also. Maybe even that one - Innovative is sold all over afaik.

Cetacea sells a useful line of retractors also - I route my smaller spg down the left side and clip it off with a retractor. Retractors

there's no "best" method - just do what makes sense to you. For example when diving with my regular buddy, my octo is loosely in my right pocket with the hose looped backward. He knows where it is and can pull it from the front or back. (watch others tell me how wrong this now...lol)

Diving with strangers it's clipped off where visible.

I dive an Atomic Z2 set. I've got the primary on a slightly longer hose coming out the bottom port under my right arm to an angle adapter to my mouth, then secondary on a slightly shorter hose then bungee necklace under my chin.

My hoses look almost exactly like this config.

I always make sure and mention it and point it out with a new buddy, nothing crazy I just say this one is attached to me and is for me. But if you need air please take the reg right out of my mouth.

But you totally don't NEED different hoses or hose lengths. Before I used a necklaced secondary and how I have it configured on my loaner set up. Is with a simple snorkel keeper attached on a right d-ring that you loop over the reg and let it hang. These are like.50 cents

As per the SPG I have it snapped on my left hip and don't even need to remove it to read it I just look down or pull it up a little still snapped. On both my rig and my loaner that is how it is.

The thing with magnetic holders, it is
a) they start to rust in a little bit.
b) when you dive wrecks they collect metal dust

bungee under chin is only for long hose setup. i understand that Sunshine Diver got a standard hose setup from atomic aka short hose.

can't really recommend anything until @guruboy 's question is answered because depending on how that goes, can lead to a very cheap answer.

Cheapest solution is to DIY a regulator necklace for the secondary and put it around your neck. That's done with 2ft of thin bungee and a bit of fire. For the primary, a bolt snap tied on with some nylon string or a zip tie and you're good to go. That's about as cheap as it gets.

@Frod that can be done with standard hose lengths as well. Long hose just means primary donate. Before people started using the 40" hoses with elbows, it was very common to see 32 or 36" hoses bowing out from the first stage and used that way. Not the most streamlined of setups, but GUE used to allow it in their recreational courses

Attach to the right shoulder D-ring, fold the octo hose and stuff the loop into the holder.

Or forgo the holder altogether, fold the octo hose and stuff it into the right shoulder D-ring. Won't fall out, and a good yank will get it out.
