The website says right on it that MSRP will be $750.

And, with their bigger battery pack, the motor gives 30# thrust and 60 minutes on High.

How much thrust do the "real" scuba DPVs give?

About double.

The battery in your car is about 100-150 AH

Edit: I was wrong in my quick response. A car battery is around 50 AH
A car sized deep cycle SLA battery is a little bigger, 65Ah would be typical. Most scooters nowadays are using battery orders of magnitude larger because a little 5Ah isn't going to last more than a few minutes.

I have to disagree with the premise that it is only a pool toy. We have powerful heavy scooters right now, I would not be one to lug one of those around. ...

A Piranna P1 is 25lbs. While that's not nothing, it's lighter than an al-80 stage bottle. Heavy is a relative term.

And has 3x the thrust and more than double the runtime (depending on speed)

Sounds a "me too" to the seascooter gti. Price, depth, speed are all about the same. Seadoo has a slightly longer run-time. They also have a variety of products, from a much cheaper (and less capable) model to slightly more expensive (and more capable) units. Seadoo appears to use a larger propeller, which may account for some of the performance discrepancy between similarly priced seadoo and bixpy products.

I see this thing competing more directly with seadoo scooters than with traditional dive scooters that you are thinking of, @Z Gear The big dive scooters have more power WAY more runtime, far deeper depth rating (and the corresponding weight and pricetags to account for this).

I don't see a weight rating on the bixby, but I'd be surprised if it was significantly lighter than the seadoo (if you include the necessary bixby battery).

The site says the Swim Jet is 5# with battery pack. And slightly positive buoyancy, so it floats. It's down in the FAQ at the bottom.

I posted a question about the depth rating and the owner emailed me. He said it will definitely be rated for 100' but they are working to be able to rate it for 130' by the time they actually release it.

For recreational divers who are diving a big wreck, it seems like this gizmo could be pretty handy. But, of course, you'd have to have 2 of them, so you and your buddy could stay together. And that's a lot of money just to be able to explore the opposite end of the wreck from where the boat tied in.

I see it now, so that's the one area where it is better than the seadoo. It's 13 lbs lighter on land. I probably sound like I'm a seadoo chearleadr.. I'm not, I've never used one. The bixby just seemed extremely simmilar so I thought it was a good comparison.

A lot of the seadoo scooters have awful reviews. bixby could be a big improvement over seadoo if they are reliable and get good reviews.

I wondered how long that would take.

To me it still doesn't look like the target market for this device is divers. It looks to me like the target market is snorkelers and kayakers.

Also, it still doesn't look like it would be fit for purpose unless the depth rating is drastically improved. That's the big problem with the seadoo. The seadoo IS explicitly marketed to divers, even though it has a horrendously bad depth rating, which makes it about as much use as a battery powered brick.
