No....But I dive with Jim often. And have done shark dives with him here off of Palm Beach.
I think he does them as safely as they could be done...considering that big animals, even horses, can injure a human without even trying to....If you want to do a shark dive, Jim would be my suggestion.

So still no one thats done the dive? :(

Did you miss that Dan said he dives with Jim often, and has done the Palm Beach shark dives?

You will still need to meet with an SDI instructor to go over your test, how to analyze and set your dive computer to your mix.

There will be an addition cost for the instructor's time & to process the nitrox c-card.

Yeah i know just havent had the time and now that i have a little bit of time i want to get a dive in. But when i called jims shop they assured me that some air divers do this particular dive

Geeez... just get the cert.

Pretty much all boat diving in Palm Beach, is run for Nitrox...the boats AND the divers on most charter boats...do not like to plan to do air profiles, for 2 tank dives....its just the way it is...Divers what to get as much time in the water as they can......Diving air means you will dive much shorter dives than everyone else, and it will be no ones fault but the diver that chooses to dive air rather than Nitrox.

Jim Abernethy's operation is a a great experience, highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic crew. I was there with my dive club for a week, in late June 2016. We saw at least 4 different kinds of sharks and also turtles, octopus, large groupers, (one named "Shadow" followed our group for about 5 minutes) and other varied marine life. I would recommend "Deep Obsession" and her crew.

Just for the info, Jim sold the Deep Obsession to his former employee Ryan Walton, who's doing the Palm Beach shark dives now - I think Jim's limiting his shark dives to the Bahamas these days. I was just out on Deep Obsession last week; first dive we had 12 lemon sharks practically waiting for us on the bottom (one of the other shark charters, Calypso, had just left the scene) that followed us all the way back to the boat. Second dive was looking like a complete bust until we were well up into the water column; a tiger showed up and hung out with us for 35 minutes straight. Third drop was a non-baited dive on Shark Canyon; we had a couple small Caribbean reef sharks throughout the dive plus "Shadow" was demonstrating better heeling behavior than most dogs for almost the entire time.

Do they run the dives as open crate feeding dives a la Emerald, or is the bait kept sealed in the crates and the sharks only attracted by the scent?
