If you are diving a single tank setup, it's unlikely you have any sharp bends the hose needs to make on its way to the inflator, so I think you're buying an expensive hose that you have to scrub with a toothbrush (!) for very little return.

I find LPI hose one of the more sensible miflex applications; a standard rubber hose that is not "the perfect length" can push/pull the LPI where you don't want it. Also makes it easier to lift to dump.

PS - I've done nearly 1,000 dives with a full set of Miflex hoses on all my regs and have never done anything but hose them off after a dive. They look like they're brand new. I'm as anal as anyone with gear maintenance... but it has never occurred to me to do more than that. Much less "scrub with a toothbrush" which I do hope you are joking about.

The toothbrush is no joke, my local water is rather dirty and my hoses get encrusted with green/brown "stuff'. Guess I'm more anal than you. To be honest though I only clean them with a toothbrush every second dive, don't want you to think I'm OTT anal:D

I just buy the right length hose. Problem inexpensively solved.

Wing inflator - braided
Drysuit inflator - rubber
The braided nylon are abrasive when rubbing on a fabric suit.

iPhone. iTypo. iApologize.

My warm water regulator set and my wife's are outfitted with Miflex hoses. I like them. I especially like how light they are for travel. N

I have both. Both hold up fine, but I like standard rubber better by big margin. Braided hose isn't any more flexible than rubber. In fact, I think it is stiffer in the "twist" direction. It is harder to minipulate than rubber. So in my double tank setup, I went back to all rubber.

Hmm... I can't imagine we're talking about the same braided hoses. Or the same rubber hoses.

I am in the minority on the braided hose thing, I actually like it for a 7' hose. I do not use the DRIS hoses rather than the Miflex branded hose, maybe that is the difference. I don't find it floaty at all.
