Still no one has heard more about these potentially bent divers? That seems very strange for a place like Cozumel. If it turns out to be true, is there a reason none of you are speculating on down currents?
If I had to guess what happened my first guess would be a down current.

Have you been in one? I have, took me and my 2 OW students to 279.99999999 feet (the computer stopped at 279). We weren't bent, narced, toxed, or any of those. But a person has to believe what they have to believe.

Ya but it's not the going down that bends ya. :)

Hey Christi, that's one of the points I was trying to make. Pretty unusual for none of you folk actually in Cozumel to have heard exactly NOTHING, isn't it?

Leaves me suspecting someone somewhere stumbled onto the old report, as has been suggested by a previous poster in this thread.

In the meantime, is there any harm in us speculating, discussing and potentially educating ourselves in general?

OK, I just wasted thirty minutes of my limited time left, reading this pile..:turd: If there was a Bull$hit Chamber, I would need it.....:worried:
I just got BS bent.........

And you enjoyed every minute of it and climaxed with a post of your own. Phew I need a smoke now.

Yes I have. Once.

I predict that you will continue to read it, and in post # 75 you will tell us what you really think.

= Very plausible that 3 divers could get bent at once in Cozumel......lol.

Play both at the same time and it will all make sense.

Dude! This thread is awesome reading with the Benny Hill music going in the back ground!! Try it! :rofl3:

Definitely a down current.

My favorite Cozumel down current was the one where the dad posted the video from the go pro on his kids head where the 17 year old kid with a bunch of weight jumps in the water with his dad and proceeds to dump his BC and goes on an express ride down leaving his buddy on the surface, he goes down, down, down, finally after an eternity he figures out it's maybe not such a good thing to keep sinking like a rock, starts putting a couple of puffs of air in his BC, gets no reaction, puts a couple more puffs, no reaction, starts feeling the current running parallel along the wall, starts blasting air into his BC, starts screaming underwater, poops his pants... I think he ends up rocketing to the surface at the end. Good down current vid.

brain freezes from drinking their margaritas too quickly at Carlos and Charlies...

Not possible. Carlos 'n Charlies is no more.

OK. The two people from whom I heard this have no further information, so I'm going to have to call BS on this rumor. Both are local divers who are familiar with the Scuba Mau incident and were definitely not referring to it.

I thought Senor Frogs shut down. Which is correct?

Here is your rental gear. Here is a wheelbarrow. Put your gear in the wheelbarrow and take it to that boat. On the boat, set up your gear. Now the DM gives the briefing: Here's where we're anchoring. Go down the line, take a heading of 60 degrees, and once you get to the pinnacle at the wall, go down the wall. Be back in 45 minutes. I'll be here on the boat waiting for you.

YES!! That is every dive boat in California!! You don't have anyone holding your hand EVER! Your buddy is your lifeline period, and I remember being shocked that in a cold, low vis environment with kelp forests and lots of other hazards that the 'norm' was 'you're on your own, don't get killed'. That's why many divers around here scoff at the 'resort scuba' crowd who are used to valet service and an in water baby sitter.
