We are discussing China if you have bothered reading. Perhaps we need to write in French for you?

Peut-être vous avez besoin de trouver un autre passe-temps.

It is clear from this and other threads that you take great issue with the slightest deviation from what YOU feel is appropriate for any given thread. While you may feel my comments regarding non-Chinese companies not relevant, the reality is that your control issues cause MORE posts that drift off topic, not less.

Have a nice day.

And to be clear, the discussion is about Aqualung and Leisurepro, NOT China.

IJS.

So I need your approval for another hobby? Following proper etiquette is a problem for you it seems.

You need to go diving more.

I'm not overly familiar with HOG other than they are made in China. I don't buy Chinese stuff, period, most of it is junk. I do however know ALOT of tech divers and NONE will use hog. It's kinda funny because for so long I have listened to people complain and want the cheapest crap they can buy, guess what, a lot of them are complaining now because they are unemployed. Been outsourced, now they can't buy anything but hey china appreciates the jobs. I buy stuff made in USA, Canada, Europe, where there is quality control and pay descent wages but, this is extremely important, they put out a QUALITY product.
So where do you think Aqualung and ScubaPro regs are manufactured? I think Apeks are manufactured in the UK but other than that, I have the impression that the vast majority of regs out there in the market are manufactured in Asia, probably in the same facility that manufactures Hogs.

I've personally taken my Hog second stages to 290 fsw and they performed perfectly suitably for the challenge. At least one or two more divers doing that dive with me also had Hogs. I also know ALOT of tech divers that do carry Hogs. Chris Richardson, Hog's creator, is a tech diver. After talking with him in some dive shows and studying Hog products, you see his tech diving influence there. Jim Lapenta is a tech diver - some time ago he replaced all his regs (SP?) for Hogs. I may be wrong, but I think he made that move before he became a Hog dealer (Jim can confirm or deny). Steve Lewis (wrote tech diving textbooks for the largest tech diving agency in the world... among many other tech diving accomplishments) teaches Hog reg maintenance along with Edd Sorenson (tech diving Superman). In fact, the acceptance of Hog products in the tech diving community is actually a nice accomplishment for such a young brand, imho.

I asked you about Hog specifically, because in many cases they are the antithesis of AL or SP when it comes to dealing with their end consumers and retailers. Aqua Lung hides access to information and parts arguing for safety against the blunders of unqualified wannabe technicians. Hog sells parts to anybody and educates end consumer technicians without requiring them to become dealers. From my point of view, these aqualung efforts are just crude attempts at exerting market control through monopolistic, coercive tactics. It is the same kind of tasteless business tactics that you see when they try to limit online sales of their products. The objectives are still the same - monopolistic coercive market control.

I believe that a good portion of Hog's quick success is directly related to them being the antithesis of the good old boys.

True, it is true that all manufacturers can have recalls and not all american companies put out a quality product. What I am saying is that FOR ME I have had really bad experiences
with products made in China. I simply don't feel like I save any money in the long run because I have to replace it sooner. I do try extremely hard to buy american when I can, sometimes it seems impossible. I will not feel ashamed in any way for that. What started this is that a lot of people complain and moan because the LDS is higher than some online store but in my experience I get alot more service and benefits than I get from online stores. I also feel that I am fortunate to have a excellent dive shop that I go to, I am sure their are some that only see you as $$$.
Online stores don't know you from your neighbor, pretty sure you are $$$ to them. I prefer to buy from authorized dealers with everything, plus I like having a person I can talk to face to face. Maybe I am old fashioned, I don't know. I fully understand about wanting to save money but people need to understand that with the way it is going if we keep outsourcing for the cheapest product, eventually there will not be anymore jobs left for you to buy that cheap product. Alot of those companies in Asia do not intevate, they copy. They just churn crap out
because they know it is hard as hell to hold them accountable over here like we can a USA or european company. I do realize that not everyones idea of quality is the same.
People can keep buying it but for me I choose to spend my money at a local shop. I gladly pay a little more for what I get in return. Maybe I am old fashioned.

What does location of manufacture have to do with Leisure Pro selling Aqualung products for less than Aqualung allows?
