In another thread, someone posted that they had read a study that said that vacation divers using Nitrox reported having more sex than those not using Nitrox (I aint kidding here it was posted in another thread here on this board). After reading that I would have taken a Nitrox course immediately, except I already had my Nitrox card. As it is, I started using Nitrox even when on land whenever possible :D

From this thread

As an aside, I seem to recall that "Undercurrents" had the results of an admittedly self-directed study that seemd to indicate that couples who dived nitrox on week long dive trips had more sex than couples who dived air.

I see a lot of advertisements for nitrox certifications and nitrox tanks at resorts.

Can someone please help me understand the benefits?

Longer available NDL dives.
Shorter SIT's for repetitive dives.
Less time decompressing after non NDL dives.

even if you dive nitrox but as you had air you will feel better after the dive with the nitrox.

Because your body will not be tired as it would be with air.

Take the extra NDL time to aside, just for knowing that nitrox is better for your body makes it a better choice.

Longer NDL, other benefits are controversial, i.e. not supported by evidence. I dive nitrox for the additional bottom time on current and repetetive dives

Like shorter SIT's and faster deco? Who knew

:blinking:
Secondary reasons for nitrox: give you "always wants to go deep" dive buddy a reason to not do so; tastes better than air; less fatigue during and after the dive; redeuced risk of DCI if you follow nitrox protocols; potential greater dive time, but consumption is still a limiting factor. Do you need more?

Tastes better than air???!:shocked2:

I don't feel any different diving air or Nitrox. Better for your body? I've managed to dive for 40+ years on air without ill effects to my body. Where's the proof it's better for our bodies? Nitrox can't do any more good for your body than conservative diving on air would.
