And manufactured by Beuchat.

Beuchat in France makes excellent quality equipment. I have an over 20 year old BC that holds air better than some new wings.

And manufactured by Beuchat.
And now 4 yrs old, dove regularly to 150-160', in temps in the high 30s without as much as a hiccup.

Your point is?

I said I'd pick up the Apeks (and want to), but can't justify the purchase. Given a purchase between Hog/Apeks, or Dive Rite/Apeks for similar cash I'd choose Apeks. At the time I bought them I got the Hurricanes for $700 setup for doubles hog config. I couldn't do an Apeks set up anywhere near that (was around $1200). So I have the Hurricanes. They are doing their job well.

I like Beuchat just fine, but the Beuchat Hurricane was at times available for much less than the DR Hurricane.(re "you will get what you pay for")

Considering I got them for $350 a set with a pressure gauge and all assorted hoses for a long hose setup I think I did ok  Again, if there were xtx100s available at $369 and I had to pay for hoses/SPG I'd be diving Apeks.

They came from John at NESS.

The OP's gear is shipping out to me tomorrow. And for those of you who question the quality of HOG just what do you base that on? Other mfg BS or actual experience? I personally dive 9 of them. Had only one issue that was my fault when I had a slight free flow from switching to the soft cover and not adjusting the lever height. Did that and problem fixed. Mine have been to 160 in 40 degree water. Some of my customers are diving theirs to 300 ft and taking them back a couple thousand feet into caves. have there been issues with a few regs? Sure, just like every other brand. Has HOG taken care of them? Yes. Were the owners able to get help not only from their dealer but the owner of HOG itself? yep. Can they call and actually have a chance of speaking to the owner of the company if he's not at a show or working trying to serve his customers in some other way? Yes again.

What's the number for the CEO of ScubaPro or Aqualung? What's his name? How many times do they post here and answer your questions? Or do they have their people tell you to call your dealer who was not able to answer your question to your satisfaction in the first place so you came here to ask other divers what to do?

I do wish the anecdotal BS would go away.

While I do understand Apeks is considered the "best" regulator on the market...

Minor quibble, but that's by no means true. I personally would say it's probably the best diaphram reg on the market; overall, I hew to Atomic regs being the best on the market both in terms of support and in terms of reg design/performance. YMMV.

I don't own any Hog. I take my notion from the experiences of divers on the boards. Reading about quality issues so blatant as a HP port not being tapped sold me on not using them. That's serious lack of quality control. I work in pharma and that lack of control would get a 483 and lines shut down.

In regards to your experience. I'm glad they are working. Note in all my posts I didn't bash Hog (until now). I just stated for the money he'd be better served buying a reg set with a proven track record.

You cherry pick singular data points, come to conclusions when you've never dove the reg and throw out lines like "you get what you pay for". Don't tell me you didn't bash until now.

I have a Hog D1 on my back gas and a ScubaPro MK20 on my pony. They are both fine regs that breath wonderful. I've proudly got what I've paid for.

Hmm one reg. How many bottles of tylenol made it out? Don't tell me about pharma quality control. And isn't there some little issue with fungus in compounded meds that made it all over the country. Where was pharma quality control there. Yeah I know it was a compounding pharmacy not subject to FDA regs. But no matter. I'm not impressed with the FDA and legal drug dealers focused on profit over people's health.

Check your facts. I never said 'you get what you pay for'. I didn't bad mouth Hog. When Jim asked why my opinion was what it was I answered. Too bad we all are able to make our judgements. really get under your skin I see. I offered another choice. I even told the OP congrats on his choice and that I hope it served him well.

Reg choice is like a car choice. Ford or Chevy or Mercedes - they fit the bill. It's what you want out of the experience. If I can buy Mercedes (Apeks) at Chevy prices it's a wise choice.

Lol. Way to speak to a topic you know zero about.
