So if your long hose reg is leaking, what's your course of action, Kev? From start to finish.

If both bottles are plugged in, one is on (driving the system) and one is off (due to the mismatched IP issue discussed earlier) and your'e losing gas, what option DO you have besides shut down the bottle (ergo, the entire gas supply) and either a) reach for another 2nd stage in your pocket (tick tock on that gas supply...) or b) go on a long hose? Even if both tanks are on, your immediate regulator options are coming from an LP source in a combined system.

You say to turn off the tank with a downstream leak... BOTH tanks have a 'downstream' leak if they're connected via a distribution block.

Signal buddy *hold* and to watch me (if I call for it --he donates his long hose to me). Disconnect QC6 distribution block feed to tank that's currently OFF, get out back-up QC6 2nd stage Reg from pocket and attach to OFF tank's QC6 feed --now turn ON, flow check and breath that tank. Turn OFF the other tank that was previously charging the system but leave it still connected via QC6 to the distribution block. Egress and when the time comes to switch tanks, disconnect that tank's QC6 feed into the distribution block, and plug in your back-up QC6 2nd stage Reg, turn ON, flow check and breath the tank. Shut down the valve on the other tank. Alternate tanks as needed in this manner on the exit, or swap stage tanks along the way or go on long hose donation from buddy. . .

That's adorable. Did they teach you that in a pool?

Do you know how long it takes to empty a tank via a free flowing regulator. You'll be completely empty before you can do all those steps.

This is a disaster.

Darling . . .you premised "a long hose leak" and asked a course of reaction "start to finish" --note that my buddy is still standing by for donation should that leak morph into a hypothetical & catastrophic free-flow, resulting immediate shut-down per your argumentative & rhetorical whim. . .

And this slow complex method is better than just shutting down the leaking tank and starting your exit in a matter of seconds?

this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. and I hang out in the advanced forum sometimes.

why can't people just admit this thing is a neat toy? people around here have had real sidemount figured out for years

No way. The dumbest thing yet was the shut off both your bottles part a few pages back.
