Shoulder release in BP/W

I'm thinking back to my fall harness that has a pair of interlocking rings.... usually on the chest strap, but I also remember one with it on the shoulder... one is a loop, and the other is like a slider. Rock solid when together... not sure what the official name for this buckle is.

I too think I may need to do some similar modifications as I have trashed a shoulder...
 
If the buckle is above the d-ring, the inflator would be over the top of the buckle. Additionally, after it's unclipped, the inflator could still be in the restraint on the d-ring. No?
OK, now I understand your point. Thanks. But, that leads to a next question - why do you prefer to have the quick-release positioned so high? Most of the commercial harnesses, and the harnesses I have had QRs sewn into, position the QR lower, below any D-rings, usually below the nipple line.
