So I thought this would be a simple change. I have a small ranger, but have come to find that I needed a little larger shoulder section. Simple enough. Ordered the medium shoulder section. Put it on today and went to connect the quick release plastic snaps only to find that theyre not the same size. The ones on the medium are larger.

The bottom section of the shoulder straps are sewn in. Cannot be changed without cutting. Same with the new larger ones on the shoulder section. The plastic D ring on the end prevents you from changing the buckles without removing stitching.

Anyone deal with this before? If so what did you come up with?

If it were I, I would break that plastic D ring, replace the buckle and then either leave it without a D ring or if necessary get another D ring and put it on. If the D ring does not have a slit in the straight edge, I would make one. Then it can be threaded back on. You won't have enough stress on that ring for the slit to cause any issues.

I've cut an angled slit in some before so that they were removable. I'm most concerned that the 1.5" webbing will double over and get jammed up with the width play of a 2" buckle
