Checked it out, yep you type in opalsdream dot com and it will take you to Mau's website. Doesn't the dive op Opal's Dream have a website? or does anyone have a contact to Opal's brother? I guess he is still running the shop.

In one way I'm kind of shocked, shows a clear lack of respect. On the other hand, I was privi to information concerning Mau & Opal's depature from Blue Angel and it doesn't suprise me that much, taking that info into account.

Yes, their website is: opalsdreamdiveshop.com

opalsdream.com will not work, but opalsdreamdiveshop.com will. See index

opalsdream.com will not work

They've stopped the redirect. That's a step in the right direction.

Whoever bought the domain should offer it Opal's successors at cost or simply have it redirect to opalsdreamdiveshop.com

That would be the right thing to do at this point.

Kevin's right, they are both great dive ops. It is a shame to read the speculation and assumptions that people post when they are not directly involved in the situation. I am all for people supporting their preferred op but when it comes to the bashing and assumptions towards another op it should stop, it is only hurting Mau and Opals Dream. Haven't they ALL been through enough?! Let's stick to diving discussions and stay out of a situation we truly don't know about. The people directly involved have enough to deal with and this type of speculation will not help any of them. Just my 2 cents!

If that's truly the case, the right thing to do now would be to offer it to Opal's successors.
At the risk of starting more polemic, I believe the right thing to do would be to sell the old Scuba Mau (now Opal's Dream) shop to whomever might be willing to buy it, and have the money go towards Gabi's treatments, unpaid medical bills for Opal that her family may still owe, etc.
That's just my opinion formed on what I have been reading here and on the rally page on FB, and I have no dog in this fight (only chatted with Opal and Victor once in my life, haven't had any contact from anyone else from that shop), but like many people here I was shocked when I learned about the accident and Opal's death. Nowadays, though, what shocks me most is that an employee of the dive shop has to rely on donations from strangers to support his family and has to resort to in-water recompression in hopes to cure himself. We are talking about a man who risked his life and is currently paralyzed from the waist down because he tried to save his friend/boss. The way I see it, the company that employed him at the time should be supporting him financially.

Annlaur, there is more to that Gabi no having insurance story.

I would like to believe it was just a matter of "how do we do this?"
Why do I believe this?
The original "Scuba Mau" website is in my bookmarks, for years. It is "scubamaucozumel.com". When I clicked it last week, it took me to the original website, but on the first page was the "new" name...Opals Dream. everything else was all the same as it has been.
I wondered, hmmm, where is Mau's website, does he have one? sure enough a google search turned up "scubamau.com".
Hmmm..so after reading this thread, it appears to me that the "old" website was never changed, at least not last week, from scubamaucozumel.com to opalsdream and subsequently Mau established a "new" site...scubamau (without the cozumel).
So I'd chalk that up to confusion with all that has transpired.
My understanding Mau was permitted to take the name "scuba mau" with him, and thus, anyone looking for Mau via the "old" site, would find Opals dream and someone eventually did a redirect so folks looking for Mau would find his "new" site.
Simply establishing a new domain, Opalsdream, will set things right, and thats what apparently did not happen initially, or at least up until last week when I was looking for BOTH dive shops.
I love all those folks, I take no sides. It is a terrible terrible tragedy and I would love to get there for the memorial service in March.
Continued prayers for you Gabi Loco, you're still da man, crazy arsch you are:)
