Any high value AI wireless computers I should know about?

AI computers are nice I guess. But since you are limiting your expense to $800...you should ask yourself whether AI is necessary. Most divers that use AI find that while it was nice at first...they really don't utilize the feature all that much. I find it just as good to use a wrist mounted computer and mount an SPG. I hardly depend on my tank pressure anymore as with experience you are familiar with your gas usage and have a pretty good idea where your pressure is at anyway. A simple glance at an SPG is sufficient. Mostly my dives are guided by no deco limits.

And the other ludricous argument you'll see is that you are more streamlined. This isn't the olympics...I always think. I can't be convinced that a single hose creates any drag that is noticeable what so ever, that when the dive is over...you think...I could have used less air, or the dive would've been easier, if it weren't for this dang extra hose I have to lug around. Just my opinion that whatever the reason for AI 'Wireless, this is the weakest argument.

The divers I dive with have both...a console computer as a backup...and primarily rely on their wrist mounted computer. I don't know...redundancy is good I suppose...especially when tech diving...but it negates the whole streamlining argument.

I have no qualms against an AI computer...I'm just encouraging you to think about why you really want one, and your budget of $800 can take you much further if you choose a non-AI computer.

I agree that the Aladin 2g is a great computer in its price range, and you can get a DSS bungee mount for it too! Just get an SPG to monitor your gas usage--they're reliable, cheap, and once you get a little experience, your bottom timer is going to be the main indicator of your gas usage anyway, with the SPG just providing a reality check.

Er.......because I am smart? and bought a SH reg set with the transducer fitted for an immaculate not so common second stage which by the time I sell all the other bits will end up costing me $100 less than free.

People should learn their things so no running to mummy for hiccups.

And it is less of an issue for fuzzybabybunny because he has shorter arms than some.

Since you said you're a new diver, just in case someone hasn't already mentioned it to you, make sure that you don't do any free diving during surface intervals in between dives. That's an invitation for a DCS hit, so make sure you have adequate time between those two activities if you're doing SCUBA first.

I dive with a Galileo Sol. I have added a 24" HP Miflex hose to the first stage and run it over my left shoulder so the transmitter is closer to the receiver. I have never lost a link or had a failure to link problem. It also keeps the "helpers" from grabbing the transmitter attached to the regulator to use as a handle to lift with.

Any particular reason you're looking for an AI instead of just using an SPG?

A lot of hunters and photographers utilize AI computers for the convenience of simply raising their arm a few inches to view all needed information. Activity related to spearing can get quite hectic making the feature desirable but certainly not required. I would always have a back-up SPG clipped to my left waist D-ring...
