If I understand what you are asking, maybe this will help. A picture is always useful when trying to figure this stuff out.
Look at the image I have linked to, you'll see how the harness is passed through a triglide in the lower rear corners of the back plate. The triglides do not need to be serrated, the smooth ones are fine. This will stop the harness from moving when you cinch down the waist strap.
